SOOOO fed up of waiting

#1 Post by Rachel B »

I had my impressions taken 6 WEEKS ago on Friday and have heard absolutely nothing from my ortho. This is ridiculous.
It's making me question my decision about choosing this ortho.
I'm sooooo fed up. I have e-mailed him and will be phoning tomorrow.
In some ways it's irrelevant because I won't be getting my extractions or braces until after xmas now but even so........

:(

No news is probably good news, but I would definitely call if you were expecting to hear from the office.

This seems extreme to me (from the US), but I don't know what country or what kind of dental plan you may be under. Best to just call and find out.

I had a letter from my ortho today so I feel much happier now.
He is suggesting waiting till after xmas until I have my treatment. I think this is why he didn't reply sooner, I was really pushy and eager when I last saw him and he was trying to slow me down and think about the fact that I might want to have a nice xmas first. That makes sense to me.
So, next step 4 extractions - peg shaped lateral incisor, milk tooth, two lower first premolars. Then ceramic braces on the front and metal on the back and possibly a TAD - eek! I'm pleased though because he has quoted me £2875, which I think is very reasonable.
:D

Waiting till after christmas may be a pretty good idea. No point in struggling to eat all the lovely food and chocloates!

Plus it gives you a New Year New Start attitude.

Good luck with the extrations

You should get used to waiting Rachel. I had 12 months of cosultations before they even decided I needed surgery. Now I've had a further 25 months of looking like a middle aged div kid with tinsel teeth. I was scheduled to have my op this month but it looks like I'll have a festive gob for at least one more Christmas.

So, no more waiting.
I'm getting my first two teeth extracted on Friday 9th January and my second two on Friday 16th January. SCARY! but exciting.
Then I'll have my braces a bit afterwards when my mouth has healed a bit.

That's great news. I had my latest brace adjustment last week. When she had finished I asked if there was any light at the end of the tunnel. She screwed up her face, smiled sympathetically and said, "no, not really im afraid". It's now 25 months! :(

I had two teeth out before my brace was fitted as well. Luckily they both had fillings! :D
