Extremely painful tooth question

#1 Post by Lollz »

Thanks to everyone who replied to my prev post :)

I have another question..obviously there is discomfort and pain involved with getting braces and from what I've read it tends to be when they first go on and after adjustments mainly.
I have had mine on for 4 days now and various teeth have been hurting intermittently, but my rear molar on the top left ihas been really really sore since yesterday. If I bite down on it at all it's extremely painful and also when I brush and try to floss around it it can be excrutiating

I haven't had my wisdom teeth out (but I've had some pre molars extracted). I'm wondering if maybe because the teeth are moving the wisdom tooth is now pressing on the nerve back there or something?

Is it something I should contact the ortho about?
None of the other teeth have been anywhere near as sore and I can't do any chewing on that side. The pain feels really deep and sharp and 'inside' the tooth. I doubt it's a cavity as I have had a dental check up recently and it's only been sore since yesterday.

I've been in braces 11 months and right now I have a really sore molar too. I don't have any wisdom teeth to worry about, just a really sore molar.

A couple of months ago a had a particularly sore molar on the other side. That lasted for 2-3 weeks and I was really concerned about it but the pain did go away and my ortho didn't seem too concerned about it.
I think it is just par for the course. :)

I have been braced for over a week. The first few days, I too had sore teeth, one day it was a particular tooth, and the next it was another. My molars were the last to be sore. It just went away yesterday...

I would not worry too much. But if it doesn't go away after 2 weeks, my ortho said to call back!

:D
