Thanks guys!!! I haven't been on the board in a little while as things have been crazy at work and just generally a bit stressful in life, so it was SO nice to get on here today and see so many lovely messages!

I am indeed happy with the results. And I agree - I did look like a kid in my before pictures! I guess its a combination of ageing (3 years since those photos), surgery (which changed my face shape), and moving on from the "cute" fangs and the small mouth. :D

Ivette, I hated the expander in the beginning! But I had a fixed one, which made things much worse. It's definitely uncomfortable but the main annoying things were eating and talking. Both get better though!

Just wondering how your gums are doing? I have been noticing more and more puffy red areas of gum between teeth and sometimes it bleeds :( I'm hoping once the braces come off I will be able to clean better and the swelling will go away, but just curious how yours are doing since you mentioned some "brutalizing" when you first were debraced.

I'm getting de-braced soon. I really hope the gum damage is not something that will stick around afterward!

Hmm. My gums settled down a lot after a few days, however I still have a little lump sort of at gumline where two teeth meet. If you look at my after pics you can see it is quite swollen there. It's not that big anymore and doesn't feel swollen or sore, but you can still definitely see it. I have my first post-braces check up on April 6, so I'll discuss it with my ortho. My bet is though is that it will pretty much always be there - but perhaps it will shrink a little bit more before it stabilises. :S
