So you only had the IA for 12 weeks or so then? Then onto the clears?
My dentist did say to me I might have to have the clear for 3 months full time after the IA. It is my two front teeth that are the problem also. My left one slightly goes over the right, so seeing your results makes me feel so happy!!
And yes you are right, it has even made a great difference to your bottom teeth! My bottoms also need doing but because when I smile you can't see them, I might just stick to the top. I wonder if you get a lisp with the bottom IA though?
How does the clear compare to the IA? Is there any lisp at all?
I am almost a week in with my IA now, and coping fine. I've been wearing it the full 20 hours despite saying I wouldn't be able to. The pain has gone, the only problem I have now is that it slides up my teeth at the front, so am a bit concerned it is not sitting correctly.
The lisping is shocking. Someone said I sound like I have a boiled sweet in my mouth, but I am getting used to it now, and remove it for phone calls, meetings and long conversations!

*Update*
I went back to the dentist last week for a check up. My teeth are now straight once again! The plan was for me to have moulds taken but.... as I struggled to get the mould thing in my mouth without gagging the dentist said he would be able to work off my old one. Seriously not sure how I managed to get this far with my dodgy gag reflex.
Anyway so he is now using the old moulds and where they hoped my teeth would move to for my retainer. Its 50% chance it will work but I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed. My retainer will be ready at the end of the month but if it doesnt work then I will have to have a fixed one.
Keep smiling everyone! Remember you paid a lot of money for that brace be proud of it! x

Just spoken to the dentist and I the lab have said that there is no chance I can have clear aligners without the impression - not a chance I can do that so he has offered me either to have a HAWLEY RETAINER or to stay with the inman.
I was so excited about finally getting clears that I am so disappointed now. Has anyone else had a different kind of retainer?

IA Fitting and expanders!!

stumbled across this when looking for reviews on IA. Glad I did!! Eventually decided to get them so il be picking your brains for assistance. Bit of a mixed start, got 3 teeth at front need moved quite a bit with alot of crowding and one tooth bit rotated.
Expected a bit of filing and then ia but been given an arch expander first for about 6 weeks. Its giving me a laugh though, speech quite difficult as roof of mouth covered. Had it 3 weeks, as a teacher i cant wear to work(only 6 hours lol) although can speak alot better now. Hard to tell if they widening, think they are a little.
I was wandering, has anyone else had this? does the inman itself affect speech as much as expander would? If you removed the inman for 6/7 hrs a day how long does it take for speech to become normal(half normal lol)? Hope to hear from yous soon. Hope treatments goin well.

IA Progress
Hey Janie, you noticing any progress even this early? Seems to be a bit of a mixed bag, reading a few people saying that they seeing movement after few days and others months. Suppose we all different lol.
Im just admiring your pics Jules. Looks really well!! Cant believe that was in 12 weeks, when some have fixed braces for years. Great job!!

I definitely have progress even after only two weeks.
I wouldn't say that my case is particularly bad - just an overlap/rotation of the front left over the front right, but my orthodontist did say he still thought it would take the full 12-16 weeks.
I'm going back Monday for my first check up, so will let you know what he says.

Won't be able to visit my dentist for about a week. Do you think it is pointless having the back bit down at the bottom, or even worse, is it undoing the good work? Am just considering whether or not to take it out until I can get the ledge put in. What do you guys thing, IrishBrace and Sherral? I appreciate any advice.
Also, I am attending redmond molloy in Dublin and finding them very good so far.

Ok so personally I think you should contact your dentist and ask their advice. He might be able to fit you in sooner! I know how totally annoying the springy bit is when it falls down but it you can get it to stay up do try. I recall mine was fine at first but once my brace was tightened it started to slip. If you do get a 'ledge' Ask your dentist to make sure people cant see it. Mine isn't very noticeable but every now and again when I am talking I can tell people are looking at it.
Keep the board updated on how your teeth are moving and problems etc....

Went to dentist this morning cos I had to take it out all day yesterday. The front kept falling as well any time I opened my mouth to talk. v impractical!!
The dentist put composites in on the back of my two canines and also on the front so is working way better now. Although, it isn't as high up as i thought it would be and the lisp is bad enough with it. Oh well, as my brother helpfully pointed out " you can't complain, cos you are the one who wanted to get it"!!! I suppose we just have to keep thinking that the end will justify the means... Can't wait to have straight teeth.

Inman aligner
Hi there, I'm a newbie to this site and having been reading with delight the responses to the inman aligner and am astonished at the photos of the results.
I'm due to have my aligner fitted on 22 April and am so, so, so excited about it. I've had a gap in my front two teeth for a long time now due to my teeth moving following gum disease and this has knocked my confidence by untold amounts!! Finally went to a private dentist who has recommended this treatment. The cost is immaterial as the results speak for themselves.
Can't wait for the "fitting" and am determined whatever the pain, inconvenience, etc. I will perserve with the treatment and cannot wait to see the results.

I got the ledge on the back of my front teeth and also on the front of one of them. The reason that the spring was falling is because your teeth are moving so thats good news anyway! If you get the composites on the front of the teeth it is annoying because you think people can see it but I think that I was more conscious of it being visible than it actually was!
I found it took a good few weeks before I saw real movement but am happy with the way they are going now
