I just got my braces put on the 26th of March and was just wondering how long it's going to take to close up my gap in my front teeth. It's the only reason why I got them in the first place. Do you think two months is long enough?
Does it change anything if that's the only correction I need on top? I could see it taking a long time while the braces straighten out something else but the gap is the reason why I got them.
I had a gap your size...may have been a bit bigger, and mine closed in three months. So not that long! But it may create a new gap inbetween your k-9's,
To the person that said they've had gaps like that close over night I think thats a gross exaggeration even for fast movement...
Two months is definitely not enough time, you have to remember that as your two front teeth shift towards the middle, other gaps will be created, and even when your teeth do look perfect they'll still be on a little while longer than that.
I'm not an orthodontist but I'd think 6 months, give or take a month or two?
the only gap i had close overnight was between my lower front incisors. That was because they put a lig around both of the brackets. I have gaps also and they just dont want to seem to close....but i have stubborn teeth. The advise of when those gaps close others will form is very true!!!!!! I can pretty much say that 2 months it will not be closed.
I would think that to close the gap, they'd be using powerchains and since those aren't there yet, I'm thinking they're trying to do a lot more than just close your gap.
I realize this may be the reason YOU chose to get braces, but does your orthodontist know that that's the only thing you're going for? Usually you get braces to correct the bite...then they perfect everything later. Obviously closing the gap will improve your bite, but there may be other things they're more interested in first?? This is just my guess...

Well, not always.
I have 2 brackets on my lowers with hooks on them and they are not being used for elastics. I recieved elastics today and asked why the others weren't being used as well... the ortho told me that those brackets just came with hooks. So, the 2 extra brackets with hooks serve no purpose... I think they're there just to cut up our lips
