Long time reader, first time poster. I'm getting my braces on Friday and was wondering if you guys could let me know what type of brush head everyone uses. I've been reading about ortho brush heads and power tip. Any of you guys using this? I'm still using my floss action brush until Friday. Not sure if the floss action brush head is going to be safe with braces. Please let me know your input.
I don't see why it's not "safe" because it's certainly softer than your wires/brackets.
Personally, I couldn't get into the edges enough using the normal floss action brush head. The ortho tip allows me to get the tops/bottoms of the brackets more easily. The power tip works better in between teeth, behind the wires.
Of course, as long as you're keeping your teeth and brackets clean, even a manual normal toothbrush would be ok

I use the Oral B Ortho Head brush on my Oral B Electric Toothbrush. It works fine. I have had not problems. My braces have been on for 9 months and I don't have any cavities according to my general dentist.
Hi,
I use Oral B Floss action then the Power Tip to get under the wire & around the brackets, I also use the Water Pik before brushing. I have had braces for 25 months & still do not have any cavities. Oh yes I also floss, but not as much as I should.
Good luck for Friday
I used the ortho head for a while but now I prefer the sensitive head. The power tip that comes with the ortho head is a big help for getting under the wires and between the teeth, so I think the ortho set is good just for it.
