Hi
I'm geting Inovation ceramics on top and metal on the bottom on May 11th! I'm 32 years old and live nr Cambridge UK. Got a few extractions to deal with before that which is quite scary, no going back after that! 18 months and should all be over. I hve a tooth like yours which is trying to escape but my teeth are pretty dodgy, will stick some pics on. Can't wait to have straight teeth! Can't believe I'm actually doing this!

I got my braces installed yesterday. Another Damon bracket all metal user. Installation wasn't really that bad. Hope all goes well for you.

kristi1003,

i too am also getting braced on april 28th at 10:15 AM. although it is only a few days away i am not feeling nervous at all, i guess the day before i will wonder "what the hell am i doing?" supposedly my sentence is for 18 to 20 months and i am already 30 years old. i will be getting the damon metal braces top and bottom, damon 3mx. the reason for me getting braces is that i have this gap between my front teeth for which my mother has as well as her brother and sister and her mother. i will be the one bringing that heredity trait to an end at least for me.

braces has always been something i wanted for a long time and since now i have the time, money and insurance now is a better time than any.

i'm just a little nervous about what i read on this forum about the first few days the teeth feeling so sensitive as though they might fall out, but it is just an indication that the braces are working.

best of luck to all of the people who are starting their braces journey in the near future and welcome aboard to the forum!!!!!! getting the braces isn't to painful really, just kinda feels weird, the pain really begins a few hours after so I'd suggest taking something to help with the pain!!! best of luck to you all!

Good luck!!! :)

and as some of the other posts on here stated - yes it might feel like your teeth are going to fall out.. but it eventually goes away. My feeling of my teeth falling out is almost gone.

Now - eating? I can almost eat normal stuff (I believe I'm 3/4 there) SO YAY!!!

that was the annoying part :( not being able to eat

I used to eat an apple for breakfast every day
snack on carrots/celery throughout the day have a lunch then snack on some pretzels

then have dinner

NOW HOWS THAT? considering that I had to stop eating apples/carrots/celery/pretzels

LOL

so I lived off of soup, lots of pasta, and bananas.... always attempted to break down food with my tongue at the top of my mouth. it worked but not for everything... and a lot of the times my tongue was sore the next day.
Spacers: 8 - 4 top, 4 bottom on 04.04.09
Braced on: 04.09.09
Sentence: 18-24 Months

Hey!! I'M GETTING BRACED THIS SUNDAY MAY 3RD. And I'm more excited than nervous. Like I can't wait. I am 31 yrs old. Live in NY! I am getting Inspire Ice on top and metal on bottom. This is my first time in braces. I have an overjet, slight overbite and huge gaps in my top front four teeth.

Good luck to all.

well it's official. i am officially braced as of 11:45AM. showed up at 10:15AM. by 10:30AM i was sitting down with the financial coordinator deciding on a payment plan. i said f* it i'll pay it all up front minus the insurance coverage. soon after that they had me sitting in the seat showing me my little dental kit that i get to take home. next thing i know teeth are being cleaned and then dried, then glue applied and the orthodontist is putting on the brackets. it was a little bit uncomfortable having my mouth spread open for those 25-30 minutes for the whole procedure, but it is now done.

i was wondering if i would have been able to go through with it, having thoughts of backing out at the last minute, but i have officially started my sentence. right now at almost two hours in i don't feel no pain, but they said the pain may start 6 hours later. my mouth does feel funny having the brackets on, but in time i should become used to it.
