dry cracking in corner of mouth

#1 Post by oharabrat »

I know the subject line is funny but no other way to describe this...lol.

I have been braced going on week 8. Had my first adjustment last monday. As Im typing this...in the corner of my mouth on my lips in each side it is a dry, cracking feeling. slightly painful due to the irration...and when I open my mouth wide it hurts..like Im stretching the corner of my lip.

My questions are this.....

what is this? why is this coming on? never experienced this until I got my braces. Wanted to know if any of you have experienced this. Im going to call my ortho tomorrow and ask.

any info would be great. Hope you are all doing great during treatment.

Bit of a shot in the dark, but could it be angular chelitis? This can be triggered by a change in oral structure - could be worth a search on google to see if it matches your symptoms

The angular chelitus might be it. thanks for the info. Says it can be caused by change in diet. Which you can imagine since braces has happened. And I have lost 18lbs since mar 26, day i got braced. My portion amounts and foods I eat have changed as you all know. Good information, thank you again. A multi vitamin and taking care of it should help. Thank you all again!!!
