Spitting...

#1 Post by CCandy »

Hey guys,

I currently have braces and had impact canines that are currently being pulled by elastics and chains etc.

Anyways lately I've been spitting uncontrollably a lot more then before does anyone else have this problem. My computer screen needs wind screen wipers its gotten pretty bad lol.

But yeah I'm just spritzing all over the place anyone else have this issue?

Ha ha, your comment about windscreen wipers made me laugh.

Yeah, I have had times where I've had the same problem. Definitely the first few days I had braces... also when I have an adjustment and when I got my elastics. Seems to be worse when I can feel a lot of pressure on my teeth and wears off after a few days when the pressure eases up.
I find talking a bit more slowly helps?

Just on Friday I looked at my computer screen at work and said to myself, wow this is dirty, and upon closer inspection realized there were many dots of spit on my screen. I work in an inbound call center, so I am talking all day everyday at my computer screen. I have noticed this problems since I got my braces on 2.5 yrs ago, lots and lots of spit. I have often wondered if there is a wiper for the computer screen other than my Windex wipes...

I do this all the time! I find if I talk a bit more slowly that it helps. Like the rest of the posters, I also have "spittle" dots on my computer screen. Because of this, I am more aware of not standing too close to my friends when I talk to them!

When I had a gap from a missing/impacted canine and the tooth was being pulled down, I felt like I was drooling all the time from so much metal in one place (button on the roof of my mouth, wire pulling it forward, spring coil holding the space open). Now with powerchains and elastics, I feel like any time I open my mouth there's a good chance some rogue spit is going to fly out
Time spent in braces: 16 months
Retainers: Top/bottom bonded and top/bottom Essix at night

I'm spitting alot as well! Expecially after adjustments. Since I've just had an adjustment, I spit a lot. It's quite embarassing, and I spat one of me best friends in the face a few days ago. She just laughed, and I told her it was due to my braces. My fear is spitting someone I don't know that well in the face while talking to them. Not quite sure what I would do then, let's hope that doesn't happen  !

TMI here, I guess, but I have been drooling more in my sleep....that could be because of my dreaming of mouth-watering foods and not the braces themselves :)
Braced (upper and lower): 10/29/08
Debraced: 3/17/10
Now sportin' a permanent bottom retainer
Alternate clear retainers every 12 hours
