Hi,
I cant believe that i finally did it!
Now I have ceramic braces on my top teeth since yesterday!
The first day i didnt have a lot of pain just pressure,,oh..but today when i woke up i couldnt feel my mouth/teeth and i still cant..
My left ear hurts a little too,,is this normal??
Ι cant even touch my teeth with my fingers ,cant brush properly without pain and of course cant chew..
If i dont touch them they dont hurt so much but if i do ..oh..
When its getting better?
my second day in braces!

Congrats!
about your ear hurting - I am not sure if that has anythign to do with the braces? if it does then beats me..
When does it get better?
well Im sure you think right now that it doesnt seem like it will ever get better because that is exactly what I thought - but like most people say the first week is the worst then over time it gets better. But out of nowhere random teeth can start hurting. Also you will see random movements very quickly - and some of them may not make sense but its all a part of the process... but gooooood luck!

Hi,
Congrats on getting braced!
I had some pain around my ears when I got elastics, I thought it might be to do with all the new pressure around my jaw etc? It wore off after a few days when I adjusted to everything.
Honestly, like Magster said, it will start to get easier after a week or so. Brushing will feel normal and you'll eventually be able to eat most of the things you did before. Sometimes you'll get some pain again after adjustments, but in between appointments there will probably be long patches where you hardly even notice you're wearing braces. I know it doesn't feel that way right now, but I promise you it gets better!
Hang in there

Catalina,
Congrats on getting braced! It will get better as others had said. It's going to take some time for your mouth to get use to the braces but it will happen! The pain your feeling may be from your TMJ or tempomandibular joint. It sits just in front of the opening to your ear, it's the articulation point for your lower jaw to your skull, sorry, enough of that! You may be clenching your teeth at night in your sleep due to the braces. This may be causing you the ear pain via the TMJ. Take some OTC pain meds. If you find that clenching is the problem and it persists, I would talk to your Ortho about a night time bite block. Good luck!

Hey Catalina,
I am sorry you are feeling some pain in your ear. I have to agree with the above that it is probably your jaw. I am getting braces this Friday, and I'm a litter nervous yet excited. I've wanted this for a long time, I just hope the pain isn't too bad.
Take care,
Laura
