I have had my braces for only 2 months (upper 2 months , lower 1 month)but so far its every 4 weeks and they seem to change the wire every 8.

I had my top wire on for two months and they changed the ligs after month one, when I got the bottoms on. Today they changed the top wire but left the bottom wire on only adding wire ties and new ligs.

I for one like taking things slow because I dont want anything to happen to the roots ect. I would never ask to speed things along, they do it this way for a reason I think.

I guess there's no sense in my writing this now since you've had your adjustment by now, but maybe this will help those who read this thread with the same question :) During adjustments, they do just that--they adjust various equipment, give you new wires, add equipment, etc. In my four adjustments, I've gotten new, thicker wires twice (adjustments 1 and 2), and I've gotten power chains put on (adjustments 3 and 4). Also, during this last adjustment, they clipped off some of my wire because it was "hanging" behind the very back brackets, which means that the teeth are shifting and the braces are doing their job. My adjustments had been every 10 weeks, but now they're every 8 weeks. I thought that since the time between adjustments, in my case, was so long that I must not be making as much progress. However, when I went in for my last adjustment last week, my orthodontist said that I was a few months ahead of schedule and that I may get debraced even earlier than the 18-24 months he had planned for me to be braced. How cool is that!?!
Braced (upper and lower): 10/29/08
Debraced: 3/17/10
Now sportin' a permanent bottom retainer
Alternate clear retainers every 12 hours

well.. my adjustement went well and uneventful.
they just changed the ligatures and clipped the wire on the back cuz it was sticking out alot from where my teeth have moved.
my next adjustement is in a month. is it normal to not have the wire changed?
