Hi. I have had my Damon braces on for 2.5 months. I was eating a granola bar today and popped off the last bracket. I don't have brackets on my back 2 teeth, so this is the 3rd tooth in. I was able to slide off the bracket. The wire is not a problem.
My orthodontist is on vacation, so I won't be able to get in for a week because it's not an emergency. I got a new wire last week and I could really feel things moving. I am concerned that this will stall the movement. Will my front teeth still continue to move this week?
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I also had a bracket pop off, I didn't get to see the orthodontist for over several days. They don't consider it too serious. When I did finally get it glued back on, everything was fine.
I'd imagine that the orthodontist isn't that worried about it, it happens. Just schedule the nearest appointment to get it fixed, and be good to your teeth.

I don't think you're in bad shape. I knocked out a bracket over Christmas while eating a candy cane. I decided to wait until my next appointment, which was that next week, to do anything. From the sounds of it, it happens a lot. I've not known it to effect anyone's treatment time. Make sure it doesn't happen too often; some orthodontists will charge you after knocking out brackets a certain number of times!

I have TMJ and a neuro-muscular condition that causes clenching. My braces have aggravated this condition, especially since I have a band on the back molar that is capped.
My brain recognizes the band as a stimulus therefore the clenching increases.
I was on the internet last night, unaware I was clenching, and off popped a bracket. Now I have a wire that is very uncomfortable and sharp that I can't get repaired for 4 days. Orthodontists don't work FRIDAY'S!!!
Anyone have a solution as to what to do with the loose end besides cutting it off and trashing it? I tried a blob of wax on it and the wire pops right back up. And how much do these wires cost anyway? I have the tools to take the entire wire out until I see the ortho next week. Would that work?

Mine is closed Fridays too. Don't worry about the cost of the wire, just do what you need to not be in pain. If you have a suitable tool, try to cut the wire and then bend the end away from your cheek. You could take it out a last resort, but all your teeth may start moving around if you do so.

Starzz, yes, and the techs just try to make it till noon so they can be outta there for the weekend, they don't dare try to be helpful since the ortho's not there.
It's getting to where you can't find a dentist, doctor, eye doctor, or any medical physician open on Friday's anymore. If you are ill or have a problem it's the E/R or suffer. We can't all plan to be sick Monday thru Thursday.
Oh well, just venting, I do have a sore mouth, uh...

Hope it's fixed by now.
While my ortho is closed over the weekend Fri-Sun and a few times a year for an entire week for vacation or trainings, they do provide an emergency number in the case that something breaks and you are in pain. I haven't had to use it though; my few breakages have been minor and more annoying than painful.
Do others have emergency numbers?
