After getting braces off ?

#1 Post by Ilovemyteeth!! »

I find myself still picking up soft foods after getting my braces off. I actually have started a knack for soft foods.

Since having braces for over 9 months, all I ate was soft foods. So now I'm addicted to soft foods. Oh well. :D

Soft food=comfort food. It's no wonder that you love it. Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, yogurt, rice....mmmmmm. Although I must say---I'm still looking forward to the day I can eat anything I want anytime I want.

One very good thing about braces...they have definately curbed my fast food habit because I can't bite into anything! Really...can't eat a burrito from Taco Bell with a knife and fork in the car! haha!

I think the first thing I'm doing when I'm out of braces is eat a sandwich!

I can't imagine sticking to an exclusivly soft food diet for the entire duration. Apart from the first 2-3 days I ate a very normal diet.

Whole almonds were the only thing I came across that I was not able to manage

I never broke a bracket or hindered my progress in any way.

p.s. Corn-on-the-cob probably would have been a no-go too, but I'm allergic to corn so that was never an issue :)

I now eat just about everything that I ate pre-braces. I still can't bite directly into things unless they're really soft, but I cut everything up. Sandwiches are so annoying to cut up, but I still do it. I just can't cut everything out, I love food too much

I do, too which is why this is going to be a LONG 18 months! I really enjoy my food and I don't feel that I'm able to enjoy my food the way I want to...I can barely bite into anything so like you I have to either break it into small pieces or cut it and I still can't chew as well as I want to AND the time it takes to eat...it all just discourages me.

BUT I'm a visionary...so I can so see my smile in FEB '11
