Inman aligners

Frustrated
Hi all,
everything was going so well until I returned to my dentist yesterday for some filing. One of my teeth is slightly rotated and my dentist said the inman probably won't move this, as it only aligns teeth, it doesnt fix rotations. However, whenI got the inman aligner she said I would be a perfect candidate for it! Why wasn't this mentioned beforehand? Am really upset and worried now that my teeth won't end up straight after paying £1600 under the impression they would be made perfectly straight.
She also hasn't said anything about any clear aligners, does everybody get offered these as a standard thing after inman aligners to correct minor work? When I asked how my smile would most likely end up, she said "we'll see" which doesn't sound all too promising Its not that my tooth is majorly rotated, only slightly but given that I was under the impression my teeth would be made completely straight it has upset me no end.
Any advice?

I also have rotation in one of my teeth (Left of my front tooth), and as far as I am aware, the inman was supposed to treat this, so it's a little worrying to hear you say that Missy E! I've read about a few cases on this thread where clear aligners are used to treat some cases after the aligner has done what it can.
Has anyone had a rotated tooth successfully fixed by the aligner alone? I've had mine in three weeks now, and although there's no obvious movement on the rotated tooth, I'd imagined that once my other teeth started to move, and made some space, that it would move as well. Guess we'll have to wait and see

The aligners can fix rotated incisors but not rotated canines.

I should add one caveat -- as long as the icisor isnt so severely rotated that the aligner cannot engage IOW something like a 90* rotation.

Mine isn't bad, it's only rotated by about 30 degrees so its not majororly rotated, it was just that she showed me other peoples before and after pics with people with rotated teeth and they worked for them - and now she is saying "Well see" when it comes to my teeth!
Am feeling pretty down about it but Ihope giving it a few more weeks may make somespace for it to just move that few millimetres to be straight.
If she hasn't offered me the clear aligners for afterwards - should I be concerned? Is this a staplefor anbody who has minor adjustments left such as rotations?

hello
i've been following your messages for a while now so thought i'd join in! i got my inman aligner 6 days ago & i'm getting impatient already lol. my main problem is both lateral incisors are rotated...so reading your messages saying they might not be fixed is kinda disheartening as i was so looking forward to having them fixed! i guess we'll have to see but if they've convinced us to get it just so they get paid knowing it won't work i won't be happy grrrrr.
hope you're all getting along fine with it! xx

The IA can correct rotated lateral incisors. roatations are the hardest thing to correct (even with fixed braces) but with room and force from the IA the tooth has a great chance of moving into position. On the upper teeth a little bleb of white filling material is often placed on teh back of the tooth to keep the lingual component down and in the best place for movement.
A clear aligner afterwards is not a given. Many docs use the IA itself as the final retainer.

Hi, my left incisor was slightly rotated and the IMA has fixed it. For all you newbies... calm down give it time to work you wont see the results straight away ( pardon the pun ) i'm sure your dentist didnt offer you the IMA for fun, you'll just have to give it time everyone's teeth are different and react in different ways. What works for you may not work for another, so try not to freak each other out
I was never offered anything after my IMA except for the wire, which hopefully will be fitted this week and then i'm done..
The main thing to remember is wear it as much as you can 21-22 hours a day and i know it's hard but try not to look at your teeth everyday for movement, it's like waiting for the phone to ring..... it'll happen if you just let it be
Believe me my teeth were horrible ( well i thought so ) and the IMA fixed it, it's great and well worth it.
OH by the way he roated tooth of mine was the last thing to fit into place the overlapping tooth straightened first then the rotated tooth they cant all move at once and the filing really helps !!!

1st time poster here.
Been reading through a lot of this and decided to go through with it myself.
Went to Sidcup on Saturday to have a consultation and it went well. They were very informative and talked me through the whole process.
There was 1 small hiccup. My teeth are pretty good, it's just I'm conscious because they stick out slightly. No crooked, wonky teeth. They just angle outwards slightly. Unfortunately, my front teeth wont go back any further unless my bottom teeth are moved back.
So basically I will be having two treatments, costing £3,200
They're giving me a finance option which I will have to do, which I'm grateful for.
Had the moulds done and having the bottom one fitted no Sat 31st October.
Like a few others I'll probably be wearing it for 15 hours a day and the whole 20-22 on weekends. I don't mind if it takes longer but I can't wear it at work (if what I've read about the speech is right).
Can't wait to have straight teeth! Even if it means no money for a long time...!

Thanks Caroline,
I'm sure the rotation will move, but like you, I think it will be the last of my teeth to straighten, an the IA cannot yet make proper contact until my other teeth move! It woul d be nice to hear what the wire retainer feels like when it's fitted, as that would be my dentist's preferred retainer, although I think clears would suit me better.
Will see if my teeth move first, and worry about keeping them there afterwards!

Chezdon.... You will be going to the same dentist i've had mine done with... Mr Q is great!! Honestly, you will be wowed with the results!! He really is the expert is IMA's and is really nice too which helps! I travel from Birmingham every 4 weeks to get treated by him!
I've had my upper aligner with arch expenader for 12 weeks now to correct upper crowding, with one VERY rotated and overlapping front tooth. Now they are virtually straight, with no overlapping. The last thing to move was the rotated tooth, but literaly over the space of a few days after my last filing it unturned itself! I've got little composite blobs on my teeth that are hardly noticeable, but apparantly these help the turning.
Like the other poster said.... have faith and stop freaking each other out!! If you have any concerns you MUST speak to your dentist.... thats the reason your paying ££££'s to have their support, not just for the appliance!
I'm hoping that this next visit i will have my molds taken for my clears to finish me off, but if not then another 4 weeks in my inman won't be a great hardship.
Any newbies.... advice from me is have faith, wear it as often as humanly possible up to the 20hrs, and don't expect to see the difference in the first few weeks. It was about 6-7 weeks in that i saw any major change but after that it's like lightning!!
Anyone has any Q's let me know.

If Mr Q was Dan then yes he was really helpful. However, he didn't think it could be done. It was only when he had a second opinion, from a female dentist who's name I forget said I could have it done, but only if both sets of teeth were pushed back (bottom first obviously).
Wow that is dedication travelling from B'ham. Luckily it's only a 40 minute drive for me (would be 15 if traffic wasn't so bad).
I won't be expecting instant results but I'm really hoping for the American style straight perfect teeth!
