Ceramics --> iBraces transition ("stabilizing"

#1 Post by colorpurple »

So i'm in week 1 of ceramic braces. I already have vertical elastics to close my open bite. My OD says if this doesn't work, he's going to try TADs. I had SARPE in June, and the expander removed last week as well.

I'm getting iBraces -- it's what I signed up for, but my ortho insists on starting out with regular braces to "stabilize" things and THEN "transitioning" to iBraces. How long do you think this will take? I wanted the iBraces by December but my ortho isn't promising me that.

What's the purpose of stabilizing things? Perhaps some of you can comment.

I dont know exactly what your tx plan is but if you are seitching to lingual braces the teeth cannont move btwn the impression and the placing of the lingual braces. If the teeth move the bonding trays for the lingual braces will not fit right thus the braces will not fit right. Perhaps that is what your doc meant.
