Closing the gaps- 6 month smile

#1 Post by Unlikejoey »

I have 6month smile braces at the moment. I had an adjustment the other day and the final wire was put on. The dentist also said that come the next appointment he thinks all my teeth will be in the correct position and he will then work on closing up a gap that has appeared over the past 6 weeks. Can anyone tell me how he will go about closing this gap without my other teeth moving out of their position? He thinks I will have my braces off in January. I trust my dentist completely, i'm just curious about what might happen at my next appointment.

Thanks, if this gap has appeared over 6 weeks, is there a chance that it will either be bigger or that other gaps will appear before I go back again? Also, once the teeth are in the correct place, will they remain there when the gaps are being closed?

I guess just because I trust what he's doing I don't like to question things. I'm more curious than anything. I'll find out at the next visit anyway :)

You were right, I went for my appointment yesterday and he put a powerchain on. I have a sore mouth today but it will be worth it. I can see movement already.
