#1 Post by jakedb81 »

hello! just been reading a few stories and it helps to know there's lots of people going through what i'm about to start. In 2 days i'm getting 4 wisdom teeth and 4 teeth at the front taken out to start the journey of fixing my overcrowded smile! never had teeth taken out but i can imagine its not going to be pleasant but i think the best way is to get it all over and done with at once. will have braces on at the start of december. cheers! jake. :P

Hi Jake, Congrats in taking your first step. Wow! That's a lot of teeth to have extracted in one sitting  You're a brave dude. Your mouth must really be crowded right now. I only had my wisdom teeth out the 1st time I had braces. It wasn't too bad...the oral surgeon put me out, of course. The funny thing was that the extractions were ordered halfway through my ortho treatment- not in the beginning. The same thing happened to my wife. Her orthodontist ordered extractions in the middle of her treatment too. Anyway, lots of luck with that. I'm also preparing myself mentally for ortho treatment - a second time (no extractions) as part of an overall restoration plan.
Keep us informed of your progress. :)

Hi and welcome.

I had 3 wisdom teeth removed in my 20's and then 4 bicuspids removed two years ago prior to getting braces. I wouldn't call either experience a pleasant recreational activity. I'm a neurotic basket case with medical stuff though. If I can do it, anyone can. I suppose if I had to do it all again I'd prefer to have all 7 out at once and just be done with it, so personally, I think you have the right idea.

Plan on taking it easy for a few days after the extractions and stock up on your favorite easy to eat soft foods.
Congrats on beginning your braces journey.

Be careful not to get a dry socket.
I had 3 of my wisdom teeth removed all at once by my dentist with the usual anesthesia, and I was extremely careful not to get a dry socket afterwords....I heard they are very, very painful. My fourth wisdom tooth was extracted by an oral surgeon because it was impacted, but I didn't have to worry about that one too much because I had stitches put on.
Good luck with your extractions!!!!!!!!!!
