Getting frustrated
I've been in braces for almost 18 months (december 10th will be 18 months) and i'm just getting really frustrated. My treatment time is 18-24 months. I had a really bad overbite and huge gap between my top front teeth and my bite was really bad. I'm getting frusterated because at my adjustment about three months ago my ortho said i just had to hang in there a little bit longer and that as soon as by left side lined up my forsus spring could come out, my left side was only off a tiny bit then. But at my last adjustment my bite is really moving so i still have the forsus spring plus another springy thing (sorry don't know what its called) along my bottom wire on the left side plus elastics from my bottom left canine to my top right canine. I don't want to complain because i chose to get braces at 21 and i always hated my teeth and was really self concious about them, but right now i just feel like i want to rip them off. It's just one extra thing that is hard to handle right now on top of having to throw my fiance out. Sorry about complaining i just need to vent. Anyway I'll just hope for some good news when I go back on December 16th.
Hi,
Hang in there, you're more than halfway there and the finish line is in sight! I don't know your situation but it sounds like throwing the fiance out is what may be driving your frustration. By the time you get your braces off, you'll likely have a new man to go along with your new smile!
Just think about what a good thing you are doing for yourself and your future. A great smile will stay with you, even if men come and go. I should know, I've just gotten divorced after 13 years and first thing I did was get braces!
Chin up and keep your eye on the prize

I can understand your frustration. It's been 1 year and 1 month since I got braced. At first, I thought it was cute to have braces. I still do look at myself in the mirror every morning and think about my transformation, but man....I want some popcorn and corn on the cob really badly! Plus I'm tired of having to worry about knocking a bracket out from eating certain foods. Braces can be very tiring after the honeymoon stage is over, but just think--you've got 17 months behind you. You've gotta be getting close to the light at the end of the tunnel! Hope that helps some...good luck at your next adjustment
