I'm at week 12 back next week in Warrenponint if the weather permits don't think I will be too much longer yay can't wait hoped I would be finished now. Have to decide on type of retainer soon everyone I know recommends wire as they say they don't wear the otherone and teeth then move so leaning towards that one.
Well its nearly 3 weeks in now and still No movement! Been wearing it 23 hours per day everyday and thought it would have made a significant change by now. Really miserable and my first check up will be at week 6 (25th Jan) and the rest of you seem to be getting visits every 2 weeks? Anyone else not have any movement in first 3 weeks?? Hope your getting on well JNAY and seeing some progress.

inman aligner
Firstly, thankyou to everyone who has posted about their experiences, if I hadn't of read all your feedback I may not have decided to take the plunge myself!
I got my IA about a week ago - and all ok so far. My teeth weren't bad, but after having braces as a teenager the front two teeth had relapsed and crossed over. I am very happy to say I have already noticed slight movement - but after taking the brace out for anymore than 20 minutes I can feel the front teeth crossing over again. I am trying to wear it for 16 hours a day and at least 20 on the weekend. I can't wear it to work as I spend alot of time on the phone and talking in meetings, but I have been wearing it in my lunch break and putting my phone on voicemail so I don't have to talk to anyone! I then travel to and from work with it in and try and wear it for all of the evening/when I go to bed.
My speech is really quite bad, so much so that my sister couldn't understand me on the phone earlier on today and my boyfriend finds it most amusing. But it is slowly getting better. For the first 24 hours my teeth hurt constantly, but now there isn't any pain apart from a prolonged ache when I put the IA in after having it out for a few hours. I'm still finding it fiddly putting the aligner in, but I guess that will get easier as the weeks go on!
Be nice to hear how everyone else is getting on!

Don't worry about not seeing movement right away, I think it was about week 7 before I noticed a significant difference. I'm at week 15 now, so taking a little longer than expected, but I wear the brace almost all the time, and don't think I have too much longer to go, fingers crossed. Back at Warrenpoint next week, so we'll see how that goes.

Braved the weather and went to warrenpoint yesterday got more filing done may get fitted for retainer when im back in 1.5 weeks by think i still may need a bit more filing done as don't think its going to move enough.
So taking a bit longer then 8-12 weeks some delays from dentist holidays and christmas and then the snow glad i did it though and during the winter as the time has gone fast but want it finished now. Will get them whitened at end have uneven teeth due to damage when I was a kid not sure what can be done about that will ask at next visit

Inman Aligners
Hi guys
Been reading a lot of posts on this - all very interesting.
I plan to get this done this year - at this stage probably around feb, and I plan to use Redmond Molloy in sutton also.
Can i pose a few questions ??
Does anyone have Crowns on their front teeth - if so, does this make it more difficult ? Dentist says it will work, but wondering if its more painful etc ?
Does anyone have front & Bottom alingers on at the same time or am i asking for trouble here ? Wanted all done asap
What exactly are the steps involved - my dentist mentioned wearing an expander first ? what is this exactly and whats the difference between it and the aligner - is it all part of the process for everyone ?
Sorry for all the questions, a bit unclear as to what happens and when.
Thanks for any advice

I'm not sure about crowns - but I think expanders are quite common if you need to create extra space?
To be honest I think it would be very awkward to have two aligners in at once. Not only would it be really quite bulky - but after two and a half weeks I still can't talk properly without lisping in every sentence with my top one in, so throw in a bottom aligner as well and I would be mute!!!

Re: Inman Aligners
I went to redmond and Molloy in sutton and found Keith really good ! I didnt feel a thing any time i went to him. The only thing that was uncomfortable was getting the plastering done
i got mine off in Oct and i love my new straight teeth
having top and bottom would be a struggle i dont even think it would be possible for you to talk and you'd be drooling all over the place i reckon if you did lol

Went for my consult today, they recommended a Clear Aligner. I'm going for it!Slushpuppy wrote:Hi, I am from Glasgow and I am going to go for a consultation after the new year. I am 34 and my teeth were straightened 20 years ago. They moved a little but over the last 2 years they have moved a LOT and I have been really unhappy with them. They look bad in photos.

Go back in 3 weeks for it
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but have read all 37 pages. I have a problem with the tooth next to my front tooth as it sits behind the front tooth slightly(just one of them). Apparently it is not that noticeable (it is to me!) and I have had it as long as I can remember.
I had the option of braces when I was a teenager (now 29) but I dismissed the idea for the sake of vanity/self conciousness etc.! Anyway, I am getting married this August so I started wondering about what there was out there in terms of a fairly quick fix for my teeth.
I went to Kiss Dental in Manchester for a free consultation and they suggested the inman aligner would be suitable (the one I was showed seems to have a clear front bit). I asked lots of questions, and he said the treatment would be done in 4 months or less. If I get it fitted straightaway (which is unlikely) it should be done by June 2010 - which is quite close to the wedding.
I can't decide what to do, my main concerns are:
- what if it goes wrong and my other teeth (inc front ones which are perfect) are moved/altered?
- what if it takes a lot longer and my teeth look awful for the wedding because they are in process of being moved?
- i will need some filing, what if this creates a big gap which cannot be closed pre wedding.
- what if dentist decides to put composite bumps on my teeth to keep brace in place, which will also show on wedding photos.
I may alos get stressed /tired in the run up to the wedding, do I want the added stress of a brace and the fact it might not work/ I might not be able to sleep properly etc.
I will wear it as much as I can in work (taking it off for phone/meetings etc.) however, my colleagues will tease me horribly (and probably tease me behind my back) which is also stressful - although I don;t care that much.
In summary, am I being a bit vain and silly doing this 6 months before my wedding??! Is it as awful as people say in terms of pain, speech etc. and will i ruin my teeth before my wedding.
Sorry for ramble, it's just helpful to write all my fears down!! If anyone has any thoughts/advice I'd love to hear it.
Thanks xx

Inman Aligner
Jen T80-
After seeing an article in a Glasgow evening paper in August 2009 regarding the Inman I took the plunge and called to make an appointment at the Glasgow practice. My two front teeth were very slightly protruding and the ones either side were slightly behind.
I never had a brace as a child and although my teeth were white I always wanted to straighten them.
After an initial consultation, the Dr decided to supply me with a small brace first of all to create some space before straightening them with the Aligner. I had to wear this 24hrs - except when eating - and it effected my speech badly making me very concious. I stopped wearing it at work and this delayed my progress by about two weeks which was my own fault.
I had the brace from Sept till the New Year before eventually getting the Aligner about 4 weeks ago.
The difference now is amazing after such a short time and my teeth are almost completely straight. The last two occasions I had a consultation my teeth were filed which is unpleasant but not painful. Even when my teeth were moving they were tender but the spacing could not be seen so you have nothing to worry about regarding that.
The Aligner is much more pleasant to wear than the brace and I am happy to wear it for longer periods.
If you go straight to the Aligner I think your treatment should be complete before your wedding and if not you won't be far away.
I also had some 'buttons' placed on my teeth to keep the aligner in place but although they feel huge they are tiny and cannot be seen. I knocked one off in error but as long as you ensure the aligner is in the correct place it will be fine. You could get the dentist to remove them for your pictures if you're worried.
My treatment has cost me about £1900 but has been worth every penny as people are now remarking how white my teeth are and how good they look and I believe it's just due to the front four teeth now being in a perfect line.
I still have about 4/5 weeks to fo yet but I am delighted so far.
Don't hesitate about going ahead as I am sure you won't regret it.
Best of luck.

Hi Jen T80,
I totally agree with the previous post. I've had the aligner for about 5 months now, but I was always going to be a longer case. My front teeth were slightly bowed into a V shape, and the two teeth on either side were both rotated. I hated them, and at 27 thought this would be a good option. I haven't looked back since getting it, it's been far and away the best decision I could have made, and I'm very happy with the way my teeth look now, even though I'm not finished yet.
There hasn't been a point throughout my treatment where I thought my teeth looked worse than before I started. The filing is almost totally unnoticable, the gaps are tiny and not at all obvious, and if your dentist reckons under 4 months, you will probably be done before the wedding. If not, you can just pop the aligner out for the day, and you'll be no worse off for your photos! You can always delay getting filing in the couple of weeks coming up to your wedding so there will be no gaps guaranteed (my gaps usually fill tightly after a week, and as I said, no-one will notice them anyway), and if you do have composites on the front of your teeth, get your dentist to take them off before the wedding!
It depends how unhappy you are with the way they look, I would totally advise you to go for it.
Stress-wise, if people at work give you a hard time, you can always choose not to wear it there, I'm lucky in that my workmates have been very supportive. Your speech will be bad for a while, but mine is nearly perfect now, and it really is a small price to pay for straight teeth in a short space of time!
This forum has probably highlighted any potential problems you might have - if it's happened to someone, it'll be on here!
So good luck, and ask as many questions as you need to. I personally couldn't recommend it enough
