I use mine right after I eat, to clean out all the food stuck under and around my braces. It feels so good!! I still floss every night and brush after meals, but I had found brushing alone after meals didn't get all the food out (especially because I have some brackets that are tight against each other).
Waterpik is the thing that shoots water, I highly recommend this to anyone with braces. It saves me so much time and energy. I do floss afterwards and my teeth feels much cleaner. Those proxy brushes are a pain to use and took forever and didn't really clean out everything but with the waterpik I don't have to worry about random bits of food still being stuck somewhere. I noticed my gums are a lot healthier too.
Braced for 23 months 1 week and 3 days!
I had 4 extractions and all my wisdom teeth removed.
I decided to get removal retainers so it will be easier to floss.

My Waterpik is awesome! I don' t know how people can do braces without it. I use the ortho attachment and brush all of my brackets and then I go through and use the pik tip to get food from between my teeth. I'm still flossing but because my mouth is sore (2nd day of braces), the waterpik feels MUCH better than floss and is leaving my teeth very clean.
I recommend using warm water with it. It feels much better than cold. I have the Waterpik Ultra and keep a cup near the sink to refill it.
