bottom wire too short?

#1 Post by amandabrown »

When I first got my braces put on, they went ahead and put the brackets on all my teeth, including the very back. The top wire went through all the brackets, but the bottom wire did not. They intentionally did not put the wire through the very back brackets. So, I went in 2 weeks ago for my first adjustment. I have Damons so I only go every 10 to 12 weeks. I just noticed yesterday that my wire on the bottom left side no longer reaches the back bracket. It is now just resting up against my tooth. I guess my teeth have shifted enough in the past 2 weeks to cause this, but I'm curious if the wire was supposed to actually come out of the bracket? It just seems weird to me. Its like the wire was just cut too short maybe? What do you think? Anyone had this happen before?

I should have added that when I went in for my adjustment that they did put the new wire in through all of my brackets, including the very back ones. Its just now, 2 weeks later that it has shifted out of the bracket.

I'd definitely try to give the ortho office a call about that one. I had a wire that was a wee bit too short which kept causing it to come out of the bracket at the end, but it wasn't just kind of hanging there. Maybe it was something that they expected to happen, or maybe not. It's definitely worth making a call so that you don't worry about it. :)
