Orthodontists in Sydney, Australia

#1 Post by Wallflower »

Hello?

Is anyone here from Sydney Australia? Can you tell me how much your braces cost?

I already have my braces in (Lingual braces on upper, and ceramics on bottom). But would really like an idea of how expensive braces are down under to get an idea of what it will cost me to continue treatment.

I've read horror stories of aussie dentists ripping out hardware and starting again - which drives up costs!

I'd really appreciate your input on your experiences :)

Hey,

I can't say anything about costs yet as I'm still going through the consultation stage - second appt tomorrow and I'll know all my options, costs, etc then. I'll come back and let you know about the estimates.

Seems to me though that if you have a good ortho, they'll prescribe the right treatment and won't need to take off braces and put new ones on... where'd you find these stories?

I've got to admit though that I Googled my ortho when I found out who it was and they seem really professional so I'm happy so far! He makes me really comfortable too.

Im in perth and mine cost $5800 for ceramic uppers and metal lowers. Alot of orthodontists have a preferred brace so they will remove your old ones and put their preferred brand in. This isnt a bad thing because your ortho will better know how these braces will react to treatment which will make your treatment shorter and far more simple.

Hi, I am located in the Eastern suburbs and I have Damon braces - I go to City Dental on Market Street in the CBD.
Dr Klar is fantastic. I am not sure if uses another system of braces but mine are about $6K all up and I just pay as I go - whatever I feel like putting down at the time of my appointments. Could be worth calling the clinic and asking for a referral?

Hey, I got my consultation and my costs will be $5800 for full metal braces, and add $750 on to that per arch if I want ceramic. Once the braces are off, I need to pay $880 for my retainers.

Treatment time is estimated to be 12-14 months.

Hi,

Can anyone please recommend any orthodontists in Sydney who aren't very expensive and do a good job?

When it comes to braces cheap rarely equals good work. Most orthodontists offer their initial consult for free so you can make appointments for several consults. You will probably have to pay for x-rays though. To find orthodontists in your area you can use this website: http://www.aso.org.au/ Or you can ask your dentist about who they recommend for you.

Ceramic uppers, metal lowers put on March 6 2012 to fix spacing issues and traumatic malocclusion. Estimated treatment time is 24 months.
