Jaw Joint Pain?

#1 Post by leannaaker »

Is pain in your jaw joint common after getting braces put on? I'm about 5 days past getting braced and woke up this morning...very painful to open my mouth. I didn't have TMD before I started. Someone reassure me this isn't too unusual???

To me, it is normal. Because i've never had jaw pain, but in the last two weeks my jaw pops sometimes while yawning. I wake up some mornings with my head hurting from the sides of my jaw and up. It must have something to do with the teeth moving and the bite changing. You're probable holding your mouth different in your sleep. But if it worries you a lot, call the ortho.
