Anyone else's ortho do this?

#1 Post by btfly »

I've had two adjustments now, and the ortho only changes one arch at each adjustment.

Is this normal/common.

BTW, I really like my ortho and am confident he knows what he is doing, I've just never read about this on the boards before.

Could just be that your other arch needs no changes at that point in time. I've often had times when something new was done to one arch and the other was left as is. As a matter of fact, now that I think of it, my bottom arch has been in the same wire for over a year.

I am 5 months in, and my bottom arch has only been changed once.
It is very common.

Its so common.
My arch sometimes remained using the same for 3-4 months.
I remember I asked my orthon last time and she murmured something that the arch wire is still active, hence no need to change to a new one.

Yep, that has just happened to be too. I was getting excited thinking I was going back to my autho to "progress to the next stage" and nothing changed doh! I'm still in the 'movement' wire and there's still more moving to do so no need to change anything.

Yeah, I've had the same wire on top for the last 4 months. It's still doing its job, I guess. I think what you're describing is pretty normal.

Thanks, I guess I just have never heard it mentioned.

I just thought an adjustment appointment meant things would be adjusted each time I went. I also thought these wires would only do their work for 6-8 weeks before needing to be "adjusted" to keep things moving.
