braces and nervous system?

#1 Post by comeatmebro »

is it possible getting braces and having your wires tightened can cause a person to have anxiety and temporary nerve problems?

i ask this because I have seen people wearing braces and act different from constant pain like having spacers in between teeth.

can anyone clear this up?

Maybe the constant pain from spacers makes them cranky? Some people don't deal with pain very well.

I don't know about anxiety, but I agree with ashesgap - I know I was rather cranky with my spacers. Not because they HURT, but because they kept falling out or breaking, and I had to keep having them replaced, which delayed my getting fully wired.

As for the wires being adjusted - YES, it can hurt, as evidenced by my adjustment last week Thursday afternoon. I was in "heavy discomfort" until Sunday, and even today, I can't touch my teeth together because it hurts too much.

Pain has a way of making people cranky... hehe...

Pain I think will be part of it till they come off!!! I 've been braced for 3 months now and I hate to say it... But my teeth are always sore!!! Is this what its going to be like for the the next 20 or so months????

I was in constant pain for the first 6 months. Beyond that I am very rarely in pain :)
