Wow..we have the same problems with our teeth..large gap, large freneulum(sp), a little crowding at bottom(though I have a deep bite) How long will you be in braces? Will you have a frenectomy? Do you need bonding/ veneers after? Sorry for all the questions but I am so excited to see someone in a similar situation..just curious.

Your gap is closing nicely.

I have a gap too (along with "pegged laterals" on either side of my front teeth that are turned sideways, lol). Just got my braces Thursday and it's encouraging to see how quickly that gap can close.

I've been told I'm going to need the frenectomy, though, to keep that gap closed once it's closed.

That's great to see. Your gap is closing. I've a gap like yours. It looks like mine's about the same size as yours too. And like you, I also have the frenum. I've 4 other gaps on my lower teeth as well. Does the frenum always get clipped in most cases of people with a gap on top? And this's done when it seems it's preventing the gap from fully closing?...like in the late stages of treatment? Or when does the ortho usually decide it's time to clip/cut it?

Hey guys! Ummmm idk about the frenectomy as of yet b/c my dentist says I may or may not need it but in the ppl that I've seen get it they usually get it done when the gap is closed idk y tho. Do any of u guys have pics of ur teeth? And I had a appmt on thursday and they gave me a powerchain on my entire top ad bottom so it can pull my bottom teeth back and my gap can close more :)

Congrats! Looks like your gap is closing nicely.

I have a gap too (a few actually)... and my Orthodontist has told me that I will get my frenum removed in the middle of my treatment. He also said that some people get it removed following treatment. He then mentioned that if I don't wear my retainer for the rest of my life my gap will come back. I'm willing to wear it for ever to stop that from happening.

I have pics of my gaps in my story link below.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
