Hi John

I wore an arch expander for 10 weeks because my teeth needed to be first brought out in order to make room for the fronts to go back. Id say your dentist may have thought you might need one but it turned out you didnt. The people who make the inman would advise your dentist if its needed or not so Id say your grand. The inman should be able to do the trick for you. Id say your nearly there after 10 weeks?

Im finished my treatment this week, very happy with the results. the before and after pictures are unbelievable. Id recomend it to anyone.

Good luck all

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply.

At this stage im roughly about 12 weeks or so in. My teeth have moved considerably, but i would say its going to take the whole 24 weeks to be totally sorted for me. But if it gives me a really nice smile then so be it.

ps Congrats on finishing the treatment.

I went for a consultation for the Inman. The Dentist said my gap on my top two front teeth will not close completely. The gap is about 1/4 of an inch apart, all the other teeth are straight. I was hoping some who used the inman aliner could inform me of their experience and if the gap closed or atleast looks like it did. The dentist also recommended braces instead, but might be tying to make more money. Any information will help. Thanks.

P.s. this post is really informative and persuaded me to go for the Inman.

Hi everyone,
I've been reading this page for a few weeks now whilst i awaited my appointment to have my inman aligner fitted and must say thanks to everyone posting as its been very insightful.
Today was judgement day!
I know its only been the first day so far and im told it takes upto two weeks to adjust to it but at the moment i do not see light at the end of the tunnel. Problem i have is, and im sure a lot of people on this forum have had to deal with, is wearing it to work. Obviously i want to wear it for the max time required so that i only have to put up with it for the 8-9 weeks i was told it would take, but i work as a flight attendant and have to speak to ALOT of people in one working day. And my job would be near impossible let alone embarrassing if i am lisping and salivating all over everyone on the plane. My friends have told me who cares what anyone else thinks but thats all well and good if its not you. So i am considering not wearing it on a flight but wearing it at all other times. I know this is naughty and will in turn lengthen the treatment time but hey ho. Anyways im back to work in a week and if my speech has not improved by then, this is what im going to have to do.
Can anyone tell me if they also do not wear theirs to work and if they have noticed a slower progress? :?

Hi all i got the wire fixed to the back of my teeth in Oct and have had no issues until last night when i ate some popcorn and some got stuck behind the wire and it snapped. I'm just nack from the dentist and he took the wire off and said they have been experiencing some issues with the wire not staying on for long periods.

So he has made me a retainer to wear at night time to keep the teeth straight? Has anyone else gone through this? Does it work? Will my teeth stay straight? I cant bare the toughts of having crooket teeth again... :?

Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody who has had an arch expander before could help me out. I've been wearing it for a while now and I've noticed that I can't seem to tighten it anymore, as it won't fit. Also, if I loosen it to try and get it to fit, the device falls out of my mouth.

Does this mean that my teeth have moved as much as they can, or is there a problem with the expander? My dentist has been on holiday for the past few weeks and I was on target to be finished with it some two weeks ago, however I've kept wearing it as I don't want my teeth to fall back to their original position.

I'll be seeing him Wednesday, so fingers crossed everything is still going to plan!

Are you just turning the screw one time or more?

I've been turning it 90 degrees every 3rd day, as instructed. Now it's got to a stage where I just can't turn it anymore as it won't fit in my mouth. And if I turn it back it feels loose and it often falls out. Just wondering if I've somehow damaged it??

Inman Aligner

#640 Post by Br4mble »

After 13 weeks (instead of eight) I have finally finished with my IA apart from it'll be my retainer. My teeth are straight but not as perfect as I was expecting them to be as one of my front teeth is higher up the gum than the other one and the only way to rectify that is with a fixed brace to pull it down, but I've been put off that idea from the implement my dentist was using to get the blob of filling of my front tooth, it looked like a tile cutter.
I wore the brace as much as I could, even got up to 23 hours wear in the last four weeks. I would recommend it, my teeth have hurt all the way through the treatment and I was really freaked out when they were loose. It does affect your speech and I speak on the phone all day so it was difficult at times and I'm sure some people thought I was a little half sharp but I didn't let it bother me as I knew it wasn't for long. I also got to keep my impressions today so it's great to see the before and after result.

Hi everyone.
I just got my Inman Aligner today in the afternoon. Woow, I must say that it already at this point feels a bit more hard to wear, than what I emagined in the first place. Lets begin with the speaking part... How hard that is!!!! Really didn't thought that it would be so difficult to speak and be understood with the IA (in your uppermouth).. I must admit that I fell like sounding as Disney's Goofey!! :-D In the beginning I just could't stop laughing of myself...Always good with a good sence of humor! :-D
But will I get adjust to it? Will I be able to speak more clearly over time? And if so, how much time?
It hurts aswell when I'm putting it in and taking it out... the teeth fells very sore! And that makes me afraid of biting with my frontteeth into things, like eg. crunchy bread, so I'm cutting it out into small bites and cheawing them carefully with my cheek teeth.
My dentist told me at the first consultation, that if I would wear it as much as possible I would be finished within 3 or 4 month! But the second time of visiting the place, where we took the measurements of the teeth he said that I could be done within around 1.5 month!! Can this really be possible?
All advices and help will be warmly welcomed! Thanks everyone!
Hugs from Scandinavia!
Ps. sorry for all the spelling mistakes! :-)

Hi xoxstefxox.
I've had the IA on for around 3 days now, and I must admit that it really is difficult to speak with! I'm really motivated on having them straightend fast, but I'm also a school teacher (i'm a substitute teacher), and it's very hard for me to wear it to work, especially when i'm teaching the older kids. But it's all about telling yourself that it doesn't matter what other people might say/think, and then just to wear it!
I really do hope that it's getting better overtime, but let's see......And anyway it's for such a short period... :-)

Hi everybody,
I hope you are all getting on ok with your inman aligner. I have had mine fo just over a week now. Very difficult to talk which i dont mind with my friends and family but at work i find it quite embarrasing but feel very proud of myself as i forced myself to wear it at work and it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. I work as cabin crew and therefore meet new people everytime i go to work but so far all my work colleagues have been very encouraging and supportive.
Just a question, if anyone can help, when i first got the aligner it really hurt putting it in and taking it out and i could really feel the pressure on my teeth. But although ive only had it for just over a week that feeling has gone. Im worried that i may have inadvertantly loosened the appliance. Or is this possibly because my teeth have slightly moved already?
Thanks for your responces in advance.
