Drooling....

#1 Post by felicia »

I drool during the night, which I never did before braces. My lips touch, but not tightly enough, and I believe that during the night they open.
Just curious, does everybody with braces drool?

I also drooled before braces but I think I drool more now. I think it also depends on what position I am sleeping in as well.

I didn't drool before but now I do. I have found it a little difficult to get used to the braces and sometimes closing all the way hurts so I end up drooling. I hope it goes away when the braces are done!

Yup, drooling fool here...I have a coil thing that makes it hard for my lips to touch, so not only do I drool at night (must keep water at bedside, because eventually it turns into horrible dry mouth) but I drool sometimes when drinking or eating ...just hold onto a napkin. It won't be forever (although it feels like it...)

Me too, it's loads worse now, used to be occasional pre-braces. Was hoping would stop once I got used to braces but doesn't sound too hopeful does it? I still wake up clenching my teeth too - sure thats not good either!

I've been clenching my teeth, too. I find myself trying to keep my mouth open when I'm falling asleep to keep from clenching, but all that does is make me drool. lol

haha bouncintgger - me too!!! It's getting annoying now as I wake myself up all the time, am shattered!!
Also, with the clenching I now do it when I'm awake, think I'm just testing how hard I can get away with doing it and also see which different tooth hurts this time! Think I'll go insane during the next 18 months!

I drool at night as well & it's getting to the stage where I'm worried I'm drooling during the day when I'm not! Somehow it feels like my lips & around my mouth are wet but they aren't! It's weird. Still, as a more mature metal mouth it won't be that long before I'm drooling due to old age/dementia so I might as well get some practice in now!

HAHA Noodle I know what you mean sometimes I fall sleep on the train to work an I hope I don't drool. I have to have a huge glass of water when i wake up because I have horrible dry mouth in the morning. I never had that before I guess it is from the braces.
