Almost 1.5 month since braces ON - - I don't feel them anymore :) which is a positive change - but as the teeth are moving some of the corners of my mouth are getting small cuts with the archwire :( and also the brackets are pinching my cheecks - for this I use wax and it gives a temp relief! I don't know if there is any med that I can apply in my mouth to help heel the cuts.

I am seeing my ortho at the end of this month and I will mention this to him, also I am going to get the cleaning done soon!

hope you all are doing great! :D

take carez

Are you supposed to get your teeth cleaned every 6 months? even with braces?

Yeah, actually it is good to get them clean that often SPECIALLY if you have braces. my ortho usually gets mine cleaned every 5 months.

Your ortho cleaned them or your dentis?

Hello everyone!

wow it is been long that I visited this form. I got my first tightning done today and my teeth are a bit sore, not a big deal though. It was not as painful as I thought it would be. The TPA is still there and I am told it will be there for overall 6 months.

My dentist told me that I should get cleaning done every 3-4 months. Most dental insurance covers full x-rays every 6 months (twice a year) and clearning every 4 months. I am going for a cleaning session tomorrow but no x-rays as I don't want to pay for them. I will wait till the end of this year to get the full x-rays done.

My ortho today told me that my brushing is going good considering the amount of crowding is going on in my mouth (thanks to the WATERPIX water flosser, it has made my life so much easier!) I don't have to necessarily floss with a thread flosser every day as the WATERPIX does a great job in removing small food particles. I suggest everyone who has braces get it! I got a fully loaded one but honestly I think you just need a very basic one (withouth toothbrush, and other fancy attachments). Basic one does not cost too much and honestly I have used only the basic functionalities till now.

Other than that, my teeth are looking better than before :) I am now smiling with full teeth showing even though it is still crooked ;) but I like my teeth now and I know I am getting closer to having perfect smile :D

hope to hear your stories too :)

Good luck to all!

Hello everyone!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 TO ALL!!!

It has been long that I visited this blog. Hope you all are doing great and seeing great progress in your teeth movement.

I am in braces since 5 months now. The TPA was removed during my last appt (which was a week ago) NOT because I don't need it anymore, because it badly irritated and cut up my palate. I had to take an emergency appointment as it was getting bad and I was in a lot of pain! I am glad I went on time as the ortho told me that the tissues had started to grow on top on the TPA :-+

The ortho gave me a rubber band to wear on the right side to correct my cross bite (rubber band required as TPA was removed). I have my appointment in a month from now on and if my cross bite is not fixed by that time then I will be required to wear the TPA again :-+

BUT on the positive note, my teeth look ALMOST straight and it is just too rewarding! no pain no gain :ouch:
Almost everyone who saw my teeth were amazed at how quickly it moved to be almost straight! and I am so glad that I started my treatment :D Next thing is to fix cross bite (which is in progress) and overbite.

keep smiling and keep brushing your teeth to have healthy gums and teeth :-}

~cheers~

Hey all!

It has been a while that I checked metalmouth. Already more than 6 months passed and my teeth are looking so so much better!

I had another appointment today and got a power chain on my top teeth and elastics to wear to fix the overbite.
I had been wearing one elastic for cross-bite for 2 months and the cross-bite seems to be getting better. I didn't
get the TPA back one (Thank GOD!), but will continue wearing the elastics.

If things go all right then I won't need any extractions (which I am so hopping for!!!).

I am a bit worried about the getting the powerchain stained. Did anyone had a clear powerchain? what was your experience?

I am sorry that I have not posted any pictures yet, but once I do, I will post a whole profile of pictures. When I look back at my picture from day1 of braces and compare it to my situation now, I can't believe how quickly things changed!

One very important thing to keep in mind is to brush often after meals and floss everyday (if flossing everyday is too difficult then get a WaterPix waterjet and use it everyday, it really helps!).

hope you all are doing great and having a great journey with your braces!

Take care and hope to talk to you guys soon :)

Happy brushing! :-}
:thumbsup:

Haha I couldn't agree with you more. Everyone always asks me how I like my braces... ummmmm, I don't. I tolerate them. I know for darn sure I can't wait to get them off.

I got my BRACES removed on Feb 7, 2013! almost 2.5 years of treatment. My teeth have improved aLOT compared to before, however, it is not perfect and I am not totally happy with my smile as there is still overjet. I didn't get ortho to remove any of my teeth and because I have a small jaw, and according to the ortho, it was the best he could do. Anyhow, I am happy that my cross bite is FIXED! and I can now chew food properly.

Thank God after braces removel I don't have any braces stains (which I was dreading). I will upload the pictures as soon as I can.

Good luck to all of you out there who have started your braces journey or are almost toward the end :) time flies and trust me at first when my braces were removed, I felt naked :( as if something very important part of me was removed. I felt very strange for few days without braces but now I am used to the smooth feeling in my mouth :)
