if you have/had built up molars...

#1 Post by MES1279 »

I have molar build ups because I have a deep bite and my top front teeth were hitting the brackets placed on my bottom teeth.

Now that my teeth are starting to move, my top teeth are starting to rest on the bottom brackets again/hit when I chew.

Is this something I should wait out for a few days to see if it gets worse/better or should I call the orthodontist tomorrow? I just got my braces on 2 weeks ago and I don't want to be a pest if this is going to resolve itself on its own. I just want to know what others' experiences have been.

i would call. i had a ton of movement in those first 6 weeks and i swear i was there weekly for minor things. i was a bit embarassed at first, but i realized they appreciated the attention i was paying to my treatment.

anyway, sounds similar to what i was dealing with at first and they placed 'bumpers' (tiny rubber bands w/cushions) around my brackets so that i wasn't biting my brackets off, plus it made the whole process of eating and all much better.

you're going to notice a lot of changes in how things in your mouth feel and how your teeth/bite are lining up.... and i say speak up! we're paying for thier services, right?

I have a bumper and molar build ups.Helps alot :D I may have to go in again cause it's hitting again in the same spot,be my third set of build ups.I too felt like I was always calling or going in there, but I figure if it bothered them they'd say something.Good Luck :)

When I woke up this morning, my teeth were hitting a lot harder so I called first thing.

I'm so glad I did - they told me that the top archwire had pretty much done all it was going to do (in 2 weeks), so they changed out the wire and hooked up the brackets on my back molars (they had not been hooked up before - the furthest back brackets on my lower teeth are still unhooked). I'm glad I didn't wait it out - I'm sure that it will eventually get better, but if I'd waited 6 more weeks for my regular adjustment, I'd not have seen much more progress on my top teeth!

To fix my teeth hitting, they added some Transbond to my back molars so that I have more molars to chew on. My teeth aren't hitting the brackets in the front anymore.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to know I'm not calling over a petty issue.
