Inman aligners

Hi everybody!

I've now been wearing the IA for 26 days now.. And I'm happy to say that I can definetly see a big change!!! It's so amazing that this horrible feeling with always traying to cover my teeth from certain angles while laughing already seems kind of over, since I now feel confident enough to smile and laugh not thinking of the "position of my head"

But still the neighbor teeth to my front teeth on my right side is still laying farther back than the others. My ortho last time attached a composite bump on the back of this tooth to help it go forward I guess...
I have to say about the composite bumps, I know that there's many of you out there who feels bothered and self-conscious about the composites, but I actually don't mind them at all I have 3 on the inside (one on my left front tooth and one on each side of the neighbors to the incisors) and they're kind of pink coloured... And then I have one on the front of my front left tooth (so on this tooth I got one on the inside AND outside) but this one is the same color as my tooth, and is actually the same color and material as what the dentists are using to fix a whole in a tooth. So I really don't feel bothered about it, but I do have to say aswell, my IA is almost never really out of the mouth so I almost don't "have time" to feel self-conscious about it

By the way..have any of you out there any experience about how long it took for you to get a tooth as the one that I mention (who's laying more to the back than the others) straight? I'm travelling in November for 6 months and I HAVE TO be finish with it at that time!! And if it could be sooner than November it would be even more amazing, so I could spend some quality time with my family and friends, without sounding like Daffy Duck!!

And last question: Has any of you been wearing a clear retainer after the finish of the IA to get one of the canines more straight?? And if so, is it very visible? And does it affects your speech? And how long time did you wear it for?

Thoroughly glad to have found this thread! Have read through the whole thing and have now booked myself a couple of consultations for IA vs Invisalign

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Inman at ABC Dentistry in Birmingham, or the Coventry Braces Clinic? I've seen Thomas at ABC for a couple of treatments over the past few months and have been very pleased, and at my last session with him we briefly discussed Invisialign and Six Month Smiles (I didn't know about the Inman at the time). I've been told by the clinic that he also does Inman, but I've just been to the Inman website and they don't seem to have him listed (though they do list Jag Shergill, who is the principal dentist at ABC).

Any thoughts/experiences? Thanks!!

I am surprised it took you this long to find this thread. I thought you knew about it. Prav knsow about this place.

For those of you here who may not have head of Dr Tif Qureshi he is probably the most experienced Inman Aligner dr in the world. He is responsible for many innovative uses with the IA and is an instructor as well. He is based in the UK and is the reason that the IA is so popular there. Hopefully he will stop in and answer questions for everyone here.

Hi, just came across this forum today which seems to be the best ive read.
I am like most of you and had braces when I was younger but after no retainer my teeth moved back.....im nearing 30 now and and want them perfect!

I had my impressions taken today so should have my IA in 2 weeks.

My question is this though........I have noticed a few people mention composite blobs on the front of their teeth........why would you need this and what purpose does it serve? My dentist didnt mention this to me and to be honest Im really not keen on the idea.

Same here, just found this forum its great. I've had my IA since 4th June and have composite blobs on the front and back of the tooth that required the most movement. My Dentist said that the composite blobs were to stop the bars rising on the front of my teeth & falling on the back of my teeth.

Can you answer my question please. As i mentioned above, i've had my IA since 4th June. It took a few weeks to notice any movement, but by August, the movement had been pretty dramatic. Howver, since then there's been little or no movement which is becoming increasingly frustrating. Each visit i make to the dentist i'm told i should bear with it, however I think there needs to be more intervention to get the movement back on track. Is it normal for the inital composites to stay where they are for the full treatment, or should they be reviewed and replaced according to the progress. Any help you can give is appreciated.

Hi There

the composite blobs are there to make sure the bars sit in the correct part of the tooth. Say if your teeth tip out or inwards or are rotated, they bars might want to slide up or down to the gum.
The aligner would be less effective if you didn't place them in this situation.

They can be very small and if they are colour matched, virtually invisible.
Also they will be removed afterwards. Not every case needs them, but I
do teach dentists to use them in the above situation.

Ive placed literally thousands of them and many patients say the same thing- they are not keen, but honestly within a couple of days you will be fine.-

Obviously its very difficult to comment on your case without seeing you but, it maybe that the aligner needs to be adjusted a little to increase the force. Sometimes some of the movements that are happening are not always totally apparent to the patient but may still be essential.
Composites can stay pretty much in place throughout but yes sometimes we do move them to other teeth as the teeth start to align out.

I have a question for you:

I've been wearing the inman aligner since the middle of august and is already very much satisfied with it! My ortho told me that I'm more or less done with half of the front teeth side, but the tooth next to my fronttooth still needs to be pushed a bit forward. Anway she put composite blobs on my canines aswell in order to make some kind of pressure on them which maybe will make them move a bit so they will be rotated in the right position as the rest of my teeth. Does it make sence what I wrote?
I was then told that if this wouldn't work then we would have to go for the invisible retainer (looks a bit like the Invisalign, I guess it's the same princip) but will this thing really make my canines move into the right position? I mean will this invisible retainer really make them move, and how much time does it in general take? I guess the treatment time will be longer than for the rest of the teeth that was done with my IA because the pressure with this one won't be as "strong" as with my inman, right?

Hi! I had mine fitted a couple of days ago and it doesn't hurt at all, it is very uncorfortable but I'm now going into my third full day of wearing at and can say I've quite got used to it now, so however uncomfortable it feels promise you will get used to it, I wear mine for work but my speech has changed a bit, the best way I can describe it is that I either sound drunk, like I've got a lisp or the best way to describe it is I sound like louie spence, not sure if you have heard of him haha

thats good to know jade! I want to wear it for the full amount of time each day for quick results, hopefully i can! because the job i'm in requires me to talk ALL day long!!
also i've heard a lot about these composite blobs or something? :S not too keen on having them. I go tomorrow anyway so will keep you updated
