Hygienist with braces

#1 Post by Tilly Minto »

I have a hygienist appointment coming up and forgot to tell my orthodontist about it. Do I need to have the wires taken out so she can give my teeth a proper clean?

I have lingual braces if this makes a difference

No, they don't need to be removed.. I had my teeth cleaned just fine.. they might have to spend more time but they can do it.

My ortho and dentist are down the street from each other so I usually get my wires out, get my teeth cleaned then go back for new wires. I feel like I get a better cleaning this way (and my hygienist agrees) but it isn't necessary, they can clean the teeth with the wires in.

it will probably be easier if you can get the wires taken out

is not necessary though

I had my teeth cleaned several times with braces on. The dentist will find a way around the braces to clean your teeth.

I love my cleanings in braces, she uses a super powered water pic thingy and no nasty polishing paste.

10-4, the blaster works well and does the job even with wires. I go tomorrow AM for my third time since braces.

They also have a high powered water and baking soda spray that cleans off stains really well.
For my first cleaning i had the ligs and wires taken off. I'm not sure i'll do it for my next cleaning, it was an awful lot of back and forth.
