Hi, all!
I was just wondering if anyone else out there has seen changes they weren't expecting. For instance, going into this I was thinking that my few crooked top front teeth and crooked bottom teeth would be straightened, and that would be it. But all kinds of other things are happening! I was looking at my old smile, and my current 3+ months in braces smile is significantly different (in a good way). The most noticeable thing is that my lower teeth now show! I don't know if this is because I smile wider and bigger to accommodate the braces, or if this is a permanent change. My old smile also looks narrower in the front, and my two top middles were significantly longer (a little rabbity looking, I thought). I think my arch must be wider and flatter in the front, and my teeth next to the middles must be longer (I also had some shaving done, so that has contributed a little, but not all).
If I had known these other things would happen, I think I would have taken the plunge earlier!
Would love to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences!

Re: Unexpected Changes?
It's always amazing seeing changes so early! For me it's been extremely recent, and I have noticed my two front teeths gap almost completely close. They also stick out to the left sideways like a sideways nail sticking out of a wall, so I was so embarrassed of my teeth! but they have cleared up and my pics will be posted in my thread as soon as I figure my photo uploading problem out :)

Re: Unexpected Changes?
Most definately!! Before I got my braces, my two front teeth overlapped badly. When I got my braces put on, the wire they used was so crooked, but within a month it straightened out. My front teeth straightened out, and my lower ones started to uncrowd. I've had some shaving done, so now I have gaps, but they are slowly closing.
I've had my braces on for 5 months, and my smile is noticably different from before. Also, once I figure out how to post pics, I'll post a before and now.

My "buck" front teeth also straightened out in a month! I was SO glad. They were so horrid looking when I first got braced, the brackets and crooked wire just emphasized how bad they were.
They were the primary reason I went into this braces thing.
I foolishly thought my teeth were not too bad when I got my consults. But the ortho pointed out ALL the things that he can fix. I felt like an ugly monster and got braces STAT. haha

Yes, Yes, and Yes.
Had unexpected changes for the good. My eyes look different and softer and prettier (like they used to look), my smile is definitely looking much better, my lip posture has improved, my lower jaw area has changed and looks more filled out. I am going on 5 months in braces.
I can really tell when I look at prebrace and during braces pics. Big difference. My smile was so ugly then and gross looking . I am so glad I got braces. !!!!
