Getting Braces today!

I'm getting braces today and have not yet decided wheather to get (these are the two choices the ortho offers) 1. all metal or 2. metal and 6 ceramics on the top. There are examples of the ceramic brackets at the ortho...but they show a full set of them...which i won't be getting either way. Does anyone have a pic of what this looks like?

Here is a picture of the 6 clear brackets on top, with the rest metal. This is also what I will be getting. Sorry I don't have a photo of an actual person wearing them, because when just doing a search for images you can't tell who only has 6 clear on top! So that's good.

There are a lot of pics on the forum of people with ceramics. I have ceramics on top, I like them a lot But, it's up to you!

I have ceramics on top and just got metal braces on the bottom. I love my ceramic braces! They look nice and for me were so much less painful than the metal. My metal braces hurt! My top braces were a breeze compared to my metal bottom braces.

Is it that bad? I probably won't get mine for a couple of months at least.. but are they just rougher? I thought they were smaller than the ceramics.

I feel like they are a bit rougher. I have Damon braces on both my top and bottom teeth; I hear that they are bulkier than regular braces anyway, so I feel like my ceramics and metals have the same level of bulkiness .

Ahh. I don't have Damons.. but I'll have to check with my ortho to compare the two (ceramic vs. metal).

well I deceided to go with the clear brackets on top, and wow...they look really good considering they are still braces! lol
What surprised me tho is that they only put the top row on and are going to do the bottom row at my next appt in 8 weeks...weird, I never knew that.

Getting them on sucked...the cheek retractor is a torture device!!

other than that..glad i went with clear!

Great about the ceramics Did you need ligs? If so, which color did you choose?

They may put the bottom brackets if there's a chance that you'll bite them off - if you have a deep bite or overbite. If it's not for those reasons, then I'm not sure. Could be just how they do it at the office. I don't know when I'm getting mine on, maybe at my next adjustment.

Yeah, the cheek retractor isn't fun. :p

They just put clear ligatures on all of them...I told them to put on the least noticible ones they have and thats what they did.

I'm not looking forward to the cheek retractor again when I get the lowers on...ugh, what a torture device!

Yeah, same here. It'll be awhile for me.. but the sooner those are on, the sooner I get the braces off!!

Least, that's what I keep trying to remember!
