I didn't realise there was only1 lab in the UK.Mine were delayed over Christmas too, took a month from impressions to getting my IA but my orthodonist only works in my local practice one Saturday every two weeks! worried me a bit as what happens if I have a problem with it and need to go in. Also when I had it fitted he said to come back in 4 weeks, I got the very last appointment for that day! I hope it doesn't delaymy treatment because of it!
Don't worry LilPickle. I can understand just wanting to get on with it but enjoy your holiday and try to forget about it. People keep tellingme the time will fly by with it in as it's not that long in the grand scheme of things (and yep,I do think it's easy for them to say!)
I've had if for about 4 days now and as silly as it sounds worried that it's not really hurting... I was expecting to bein quite a lot of pain for weeks. It's ok once it's beenin for 5mins or so,the first 5mins are painful and trying to get it in! But it's also not really stopping me eating things. I'm a bit more tentative when I bite but I'm not sure it's necessary to be...anyone else feeling that maybe it's not working as it's not that painful/had that feeling and now it's worked?
I'm getting used to wearing it at work but still not braved taking it in and out at work yet...it feels like quite a long day without any food at lunch...

It's been exactly two weeks for me and thought I better give an update on my progress. I wish I had more time to set up a blog, so I'm glad to hear charlie8 is doing it. My hours of wearing have declined a little. The first few days I was a little over enthuastic, wore it all the time and after getting ulcers I started giving my gums a bit of a rest and didn't put my IA on straight after meals. I think I've gotten used to the "rest" after meals and sometimes I realise a few hours have passed before rushing to put them back on. At work if my boss is in (he only comes in a few hours a day) I take them out as I don't really want him to know, and I've been going for a few interviews (looking to change jobs) so this week hasn't been anywhere near "20 hours a day". I've bought some denture cleaner tablets to clean my IA which wasn't the most fun thing to buy in public, but it works really nicely and gets out stuff in corners my toothbrush can't reach. Putting the IA on doesn't make me wince anymore so that's one less problem. I used to "click" one side then the other and I guess that wasn't the right way as the first side would hit the gum quite viciously so I tried to push both sides up at the same time and it didn't hurt. The sores on my gums are gone but there's still a bit on one cheek but it's healing up. Oh, (JackDaniels) about back teeth hurting, mine started hurting a little for a few days when biting into food a few minutes after taking it out but it's not anymore. I found out that I clench my teeth a little when I sleep and now I'm biting a little into the IA. I have it on my top arch so the front bottom teeth are biting into the plastic bit on the inner top arch. I hope it doesn't wreck the device and I'm trying to relax my jaw each time I realise I'm clenching. Still don't see any visible change but I think I can feel a difference when I bite my front teeth together so I hope something is moving! So that's my 2 week update.

I was expecting to have them out today but my left-hand incisor is still rotated – the dentist put another composite blob on that side because he said the aligner wasn’t sitting in quite the right place. He also filed the tooth a little to make more space, and said I’ll need it for another 4 weeks maximum! Bummer cos I was really looking forward to having it out. One more month!
Just wondering, does anyone else find their aligner getting quite smelly after a few weeks of use? Mine has become increasingly odorous event though I wash it all the time! It’s really gross and I’m now having to use mouthwash all the time (as I can’t chew gum).
Going to try and post photos tonight! xx

For the odor, Retainer Brite is what's recommended I think. I bought a box from Amazon. These are tablets you put in warm water and soak the aligner in for 10-15 mins. Give it a try.

Thanks Jack! I've just ordered some. I tried to post some progress photos last night but can't find a way of hosting them online - tried photobucket but no joy. Any other ideas anyone?? Really want to show how much they've moved in only 2 months!

Well, Im a week in and have to tighten my aligner tomorrow. Getting on ok but cant wear it to work as my speech is not good and I am on the phone quite abit. The good news is I can actually see movement already. Really impressed so far so good. I hopefully will be able to wear it to work soon as I dont want to slow down my treatment. My dentist told me to only use water and a brush to clean the aligner but i,ve been reading that you all use Retainer Brite so I think I,ll give it a go as it doesnt seem clean with just water yuk.

I'm a week in now too and finding it's not painful at all - does that mean it's not doing anything? Does anyone's teeth hurt(the ones at the front that are being moved)? How often are you all using retainer brite? My dentist said once a week but the pack says once a day and I agree it does not feel/look clean with just water and a toothbrush!

I am thinking 'do i have it in properly'!? Is it working?!

How many hours per day are you wearing yours?
Can you just clean it with regular toothpaste or mouthwash?

I'm counting down the days till mine is finished
In terms of the pain, my teeth were sore for at least 2 weeks when it was first fitted, and after that they became sore for 2 or 3 days after each visit (because each time he'd make more room for them to move). However I see consistent movement throughout treatment, even when the pain has died down. If yours aren't moving, it's probably because of the amount of space they have to move into (or lack thereof) rather than the fit of the appliance; when movement slows down for me, they always move really suddenly after he makes gaps in between the teeth. The best advice I can give is always raise your concerns with your dentist as soon as you have them - even by phone. You know your own mouth better than anyone else!
Oh and I've never had mine tightened! I don't think it's necessary seeing as my teeth have moved so fast.

Mine were much more sore than that to begin with. I don't know how bad your teeth are but I had one tooth that was set back a long way behind the others, which meant there was a LOT of pressure on the teeth, hence the pain. It was excruciating every time I took it out and especially when I put it back in - as a result I only took it out once a day to eat, and lost a WHOLE lot of weight!
I started seeing movement after about one week, and the tooth (which was a whole tooth's breadth behind the others, if that makes sense) had come all the way forward within 6 or 7 weeks, so that side of my mouth was completely straight. The tooth that's still not straight is a rotated one on the opposite side - it's taking much longer than the other one, which simply needed to be pushed forward.
Have you seen any movement with yours yet?

I haven't seen any movement yet. I didn't really expect to see any so soon really.
I think I have the opposite problem to you. My tooth beside my front teeth is being pushed back, rather than forward. This one I think will be rather stubborn and the most difficult as I think it has to rotate as well as move back!
The one on the opposite side is being pushed forward, though I cant really feel any pressure on that one yet.

Yep - it will happen in time! I think at the stage you're at the aligner only has contact with one or two teeth, and then as they come into alignment it will have even pressure all round. The time will fly by though!
