Hi all
My main issues with my teeth are that my right 'vampire fang' sticks out and that my teeth are not in the centre of my lips (I'd say they were about half a tooth too far to the right). I thought my dentist would centre my teeth automatically but my boyfriend said I should have asked him and that Tom Cruise's teeth aren't centred after braces! I have an adjustment booked in six weeks time but is it too late to ask my dentist to centre them if he was not planning to?
I had my smallest upper right molar extracted so that my fang tooth could move into the hole but my second smallest right molar... I am hoping he did this so that my teeth can be centred, but now I'm worried!
Also, my dentist told me to use interbrushes instead of floss but my bottom teeth overlap so much it is impossible even with the smallest size. I see a lot of you still floss but I am worried about doing that as sometimes I get floss stuck inbetween teeth and if I have to pull it out hard, I might break my wire... Any suggestions?
Finally, the end of my wire is poking/rubbing against one of my cheeks, is this normal? (It doesn't seem any longer than the other ends of the wires)
Sorry for all the questions! Thanks in advance for your help!
Hannah
P.S. My boyfriends doing a timelapse of my teeth so hopefully we will have some good pictures to show in the future!
Will my teeth get centred, flossing and wire poking?

It's hard to say if it's too late or not. In the end your ortho knows, but generally if the treatment is just started..i wouldn't think so? Maybe you can call your ortho and ask?
As for the wire, i had a 1,5cm wire poking my cheek for about 3 weeks, and eventually my cheek got used to it, and it didn't hurt anymore. Eventually my ortho cut it so now it's fine. My advice is to gobble that wire with wax, and call the ortho and see if maybe they can file it down a bit. It could be this tiny end that is jut rubbing.
As for the floss thing. I am dealing with severe crowding issues especially in the bottom ones, and when i mentioned how hard the floss gets in and out, my ortho suggested that it was ok not to floss, and just use either waterpick, or the cone brush thingy. He said that if the floss can't get in, most likely food won't either.

It does sound like they are trying to center your teeth...
I am actually in a similar predicament. My biggest issues going in were my off-center midline (which was secondary to a congenitally absent left bicuspid) and my right canine, which protruded slightly. My right 1st premolar was extracted two days before I got my braces. The next step was to move my canine laterally with power chains. After about four and a half months, my canine is next to the second premolar. Now my four front teeth will be moved as a group towards the new gap my canine left behind. Hopefully they will be in the center soon!
I hope this helps, but I would definitely ask your ortho about his plan. Good luck!

Re: Will my teeth get centred, flossing and wire poking?
thank you both for your help!
i popped into my ortho and he trimmed the wire today and said not to worry about flossing and that as my teeth move, itl become easier... i think i will look into waterpiks too though just because i like to feel clean!
it is only the start of my treatment and he does sound like he's planning to centre them then but i will ask him next time i have an adjustment just in case (i felt bad today and didn't want to ask him too much as he fit me in in his break and it was really busy!)
thanks again
