Refining my smile :)

#1 Post by braceface:) »

Today I FINALLY got my braces on :)! I have been anticipating this moment for years. I opted for the ceramic braces on my upper teeth, but metal on the bottom. I also have an impacted canine (boo :/), but I hope it's not as complicated as it sounds. At 22, I felt slightly awkward getting braces, but I'm more than excited to start the journey!!

Have your experiences been positive? When did you first notice changes in your teeth?

Hello, welcome and Congratulations!

My experience has for the most part, been nothing but positive. Occasionally an adjustment, powerchain or elastic causes problems but other than that, this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I started noticing changes within the first 6 weeks.

If you check out the "our brace stories" (or something like that) you can read about everyone's experiences so far. I don't have a story, I kind of wish I started one long ago.

If I can give you any advice it is to take pictures at least monthly, save all of those receipts (so you can calculate just how much this experience costs), start a story so you can track everything and of course, smile!

Good luck!

Thanks Snowglobe32.

It's good to hear your success. It makes me look forward to mine! My orthodontist said I should see changes immediately...I'm soooo excited! I believe this is the best thing I've ever done for myself too.

I will be sure to take lots of pictures to document the progress! :)

Congratulations on taking the plunge! I'm a first timer at 26! Had mine on for almostr 3 months and besides my last wire poking me like crazy and occassional discomfort I haven't had any issues at all. Also noticed lots of movement already.

Hope you notice movement soon!

hi braceface, its exciting this whole brace-thingy isnt it? i noticed movement really quickly, the first few weeks/months were so exciting. i became obsessed with looking in the mirror and taking pics of my teeth ha ha.

i have ceramics on uppers too, be careful eating curry, they go a funny colour. its crazy how quickly i got used to mine. am due to hopefully get them off soon, it seems weird as im so used to having them. im 29 by the way. Am sooooooo glad i decided to get braces, i just wish id done it years ago when i first started looking into it. good luck x

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update on my first week in braces! At first I had the usual nervous/anxious feelings I think we all go through. Especially because I work as a server and a bartender, I wasn't sure how my customers and coworkers would react. Unfortunately I had to go to work the day after getting braced. LUCKILY I have had nothing but positive responses though :D

The ceramic brackets on top are amazing. I absolutely love the way I look. And they are much more comfortable than the metal brackets I have on the bottom, not to mention less noticeable

I cannot believe this week has flown by. I hope the rest of my treatment goes by just as fast. My orthodontist said in about 6 months I should be ready for my canine extraction. I can't wait to get the ball rolling on that guessing game. ha.

Take care all! I will update again once I see movement!
