2nd adjustment - Fitted with micro-implants

#1 Post by phanta »

Hi everyone,
I haven't been posting much lately, but thought I'd update re: my progress. I had a pretty interesting adjustment, and since I haven't found much information on the internet (no descriptions, no pictures) I'm sharing this:

I started posting a shorter version of this here, but it wound up being too long :) So i'm referring you to my original post, I hope that's alright.

Well, I'm excited about moving on to the next stage yet again. I'm kind of bummed out about my ortho not being super optimistic. He said back teeth move the slowest and that's what I need to move.

Is anyone having the same thing done or will have to do it?

hi Phanta
I too am waiting to get implant screws done. Mine will be on the inside of my teeth though and I am only having them at the top. My ortho isn't doing them himself but is sending me to an oral surgeon who will do the work.

They are to anchor my 2nd molars to in order to pull them back. He is hoping that by using the miniscrews I will not have to have any extractions, as I have crowding at the front on the top, but plenty of unused space at the back! Once the molars have been pulled back my the screws there should hopefully be space for all my front teeth to align.

I was interested to read your post! I hope the pain soon eases off.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
that is interesting, looks like they find all sorts of uses for this, and probably opening up more treatment options.

I posted in another thread (about treatment cost), a couple of other orthos I consulted with wanted to send me to a surgeon to do the implants. When I found out that this doctor does it all himself and has so much experience with it, I just felt more confident overall with one person doing the whole treatment.

I'm a bit incoherent at the moment from too much ibuprofen, but pain is not as bad now.

I'm actually getting a kick out of these little screws: I called everyone and scared them with the detailed descriptions :) I can see and hear them shudder.

Thanks, JC! :) Today's better than yesterday already. Hopefully in a few days it'll get back to normal, like with braces after adjustment.

Despite all the pain, I'm super optimistic, because my real active treatment phase has started. Yay!

:D
