Well, I've got:
severe crowding on the top and bottom
crossbite
protrusion
misalignment of the centerline
apparently I have a small lower jaw bone and am at risk for having teeth "fall off" the back side of the jaw as well

I chose all metal braces and don't regret it at all. I need to get three teeth pulled a week from today to create room. I wasn't too thrilled about having to have teeth pulled, but the ortho group I go to are supposedly the best around. I trust them. It just stinks to get three more pulled as I just had three wisdom teeth removed seven weeks ago. Had I known I would have just done them all at once.

This will all be worth it in the end. It sure beats having to have surgery as well.

Ugh, you are so lucky. I just got my top ones on (ceramic) and rubber bands have been in place for about a day and I am in so much pain. I couldn't sleep last night. I always thought I had a high tolerance for pain, but I'm starting to rethink that. I took the rubber bands off for an hour this morning and it was immediate relief. But I had to put them back on.

Here's hoping you stay pain-free!

I hardly had any pain either when I got my braces on. I've had two adjustments so far and they haven't been too bad. The last adjustment only hurt that evening and by morning I felt better. I would assume as treatment progresses, and the wires get heavier, it may start to hurt more.

@Leesa go to the Ticker website and construct a ticker. Copy the code and paste the code in your user profile in the user control panel.

Glad to see this pain post. I posted the exact same post about a week into being braced and many reponders said things like "oh, just wait, your time will come". I just want to say that I am now almost 11 months into this full metal and still no pain. For most of my treatment I have had adjustments every 5-6 weeks. I consider my case pretty severe. This is good news for you...perhaps you will have a similar experience. I am scheduled for TADS soon and I expect that things will probably change when I get elastics in a couple weeks but I feel lucky so far. Congratulations on getting braced :!:

This is great to read for me too! I'm getting a full set upper/lower on Friday, feeling nervous... some ppl experience so much pain, & this worried me... not so much the "pain" part of it but I teach, and always need to present my best face in front of the class... it seems everyone is different in this aspect. Getting the rubber spacers was a torment, headache for three or four days straight-- now have full set of molar bands & I can tell it's irritating me, but just not enough to require aspirin...

hoping that my braces don't knock me for a loop,,, very happy yours is going well & hope they stay that way!

Wow that's great! I had soreness the first day I was braced then all out freaking pain for the following couple days. Now I get random soreness sometimes... It's nothing as bad as the first day though. I'm sure it's normal that you don't feel pain though. I think everyones mouth is just different.

I haven't had any real pain since I had the brackets put on. The spacers were another story!

I hope it stays this way. :-*

I just got braced about 6 hours ago, and so far no pain, although I do feel the onset of some pressure on my top teeth. I hope there will be no nasty pain surprises when I wake up tomorrow
