Teeth Left Out?
I'm not sure what is standard. I assumed that when you get your braces on that the ortho would bracket all the teeth. However...the last molars on the upper and lower were NOT bracketed.
Has this happened to anyone? Will he do those later in treatment?

Re: Teeth Left Out?
My ortho did not bracket my upper / lower last molars either. I asked about it and he stated he would later but did not say why. I'm assuming it's because I'm going to have 3 of my wisdom teeth and 1 broken molar removed.

I don't believe all my teeth were bracketed until around the 9 month mark.

Re: Teeth Left Out?
I've had braces for 2 months now. Until today, one of my lower left incisors was left untied. The ortho had it tied today, so I'm assuming that's pretty normal, based on what has to shift where in your mouth.
Re: Teeth Left Out?
I don't have my wisdom teeth out yet, and my last molars (top & bottom) aren't braced, either. I don't know if there is correlation in that, just letting you know that you are not alone

In-Ovation C for 15 months and 1week on uppers, and 13m 3w 3 days on lowers. Loved it, and love my teeth now!

Nope, my last molars aren't braced either. And a couple of the teeth in front, though they have brackets applied, haven't been wired yet. My ortho says he has to move the others out of the way before he can start moving those. So lots of us are only somewhat wired!

Braced on 4-11-11

Re: Teeth Left Out?
I dont know if you have any crowns, fillings needed in any of those teeth but that is why mine was delayed.
When I had my uppers put on I did not have the back teeth on either side bracketed. I asked why and he reminded me that one of those back teeth is a crown and needed to be replaced (it was part of my bite problem). So, after he put on my uppers, I went to the dentist and they took out the old crown and gave me a temp. Like 2 months later, my ortho bracketed the last two teeth.
I just had my lowers on 4-11-11 and did not have the last tooth on either side bracketed. This, again, is because one of those molars is a crown and it has to be replaced.
Other than that, I dont know why they do it. Im gonna write this part in all caps: FLOSSING IS SUCH A PAIN WITH BRACES, SO ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF NOT HAVING TO FLOSS BETWEEN BRACKETS ON THAT BACK TOOTH FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! lol

Re: Teeth Left Out?
I just got my braces off and they never had a bracket on any of my last molars. I even had a bracket fall off of one maybe halfway through and they just anchored the braces to the next tooth in front and left two back molars without a bracket. He said I didn't need it at that point.
Re: Teeth Left Out?
When I got braced they left brackets off of 3 bicuspids. Then told me they had to be pulled. Hope it's different for you.

Re: Teeth Left Out?
I asked my ortho about this at my last adjustment and he told me that they would bracket the last molars when I moved up into a bigger wire. He said that the thin, flexible wire I'm in now would probably have a hard time staying in the last bracket and it would end up causing me more trouble than benefit at this point.

I'm definitely not worried about that. I have plenty of room in there so no need to pull any. Thanks!clangjr wrote:When I got braced they left brackets off of 3 bicuspids. Then told me they had to be pulled. Hope it's different for you.
