Final wire

#1 Post by TraceA »

I don't often contribute to the forum but I follow it all the time so thanks to all of those who do contribute. I've had my braces for 11months (Damon system - ceramics top & metal bottom). My teeth weren't bad (I needed room to replace a top front crown). Yesterday my ortho put the last wire in my top braces (the bottom are done). I have elastics both sides (stronger bands on the left - I assume to correct a crossbite) & my ortho moved the hooks closer to my top front teeth (not sure I'm keen on the look but they've already made a differenc overnight).
My question is how much longer is it likely to be? I know this is the tweaking stage & he has asked me to write down changes I'm noticing & anything I'm not happy with (the only thing really is that my gum levels are uneven in my top teeth). My otho just says 'we'll be finished by the end of the year' so he won't commit. I'm just wondering what the average time is when you get to the final wire/tweaking stage.
Thanks

Go to the clinical/technical section of the Damon web site there you can find a chart the provides typical treatment times with each wire type.

Thanks for that. I've had a look & was surprised to see that it says 10 weeks, so I may get these things off sooner than I anticipated (my ortho keeps saying I've made good progress). :D
