Thanks dreamer89 and Hatemyteeth for replying to my post a few weeks ago. I am getting my IA fitted tomorrow and I am really nervous - think I have made it more scary in my head than it will be, at least I hope I have! I will post tomorrow to say how I am getting on...
snt24- It's not that bad. Yes you will talk a little funny but still be understandable. It will be a little uncomfortable putting in and taking out for a few days but it fades after 5 minutes or so each time. Otherwise it's just getting used to the feeling and self confidence.
I will be at 2 weeks tomorrow. I think there has been very minor movement. Still a long way to go.
Inman Aligner is in! The teeth filing part was surprisingly ok. It didn't hurt, but the sound was a little off putting.
Have been wearing it for 5 hours. I can't really speak at all, and it feels bulkier that I expected but hoping to get used to it. Not much pain to speak off, but teeth are feeling a bit tender. Also salivating a ridiculous amount, so hoping this dies down.
I was pleasantly surprised that mine has a clear plastic bar across the front, when I was expecting a metal bar.
Does anyone know, am I able to drink water with it in? As I have tried and it is really hard to drink. Or do I have to remove it whenever I want to drink anything?
hi all,
when I first got mine I was told to only drink water with it in - tea and coffee can stain it aparently (other people in the forum were also told if it is too hot is can melt it which I find hard to believe!) however as time went on I have drunk pretty much everything with it in. If it's difficult to start with then stick to water for now but quite honestly I've not had problem drinking at all(but mine is on the lower jaw).
I have my next appointment on Friday and fingers crossed should be getting moulds taken for clear invisalign things to wear for a few weeks for the 'fine tuning' but not holding my breath as was told that before my last visit too
Hi everyone,
haven't been to this board for a while...it's been 10 weeks for me with my IA and even though that was the estimated time of my treatment, my teeth aren't completely straight yet. However I'm really pleased with the results so far - the front teeth are straight now and that had a huge impact on my row - in my opinion it looks very good already, even though the one rotated teeth still isn't completely on place. I had an appointment with my orthodontist today and he filed the rotated tooth to give it more space and also filed the edges of my front teeth to make them completely even. The other front tooth was a bit longer than the other, so now that they are completelty even I'm very happy and I feel like I can smile without having to be ashamed of my teeth I still have 2-4 weeks to go, but I'll hopefully soon be able to post you guys some before and after pics of my results.
Also noticed that there are some new members on this board, good luck and congratulations about choosing Ia at least for me it has definitely been worth the money and I'm over the moon with my teeth right now.

Hi Alice
Roughly, how long per day do you wear your aligner?
Good luck with your aligners - maybe we can be teeth buddies, I get mine fitted on Friday and would appreciate all your new found knowledge.

Hi Kittenheels
So far not too much knowledge to impart - it has ached a lot when taking out to eat and putting back in, and teeth feel quite tender during this time, but nothing that makes me regret getting it, and it always dies down after 10 minutes or so! The thing I'm finding hardest at the moment is drinking with it in but the posts above reassure, this will hopefully get better with time! (thank you hatemyteeth for advice Re straw, will locate one and try this out!)
Bizarrely, I could speak perfectly with it in after wearing it all night, but once I took it out for breakfast and put it back in again, speech was back to how it was yesterday. I'm hoping that improves with practice tho!
Good luck getting yours fitted - it will be good to hear how you are getting on, as we will be at roughly the same stage!
danasher,
I'd say I wear my ia approximately 19 hours a day. My dentist recommended to wear it 20 hours a day and I've tried to do that - ofcourse sometimes it's less, but some days I've managed even more than 20 hours. My front teeth moved almost completely on place in just 3weeks, while my rotated tooth is taking much longer time. Depends on teeth, but just try to wear your ia as much as possible

Thanks. I've been wearing mine about the same amount of time. I've had it for 5 and a half weeks so far. I'm going to the orthodontist tomorrow so hopefully i'll get a better idea of how much they've moved.
I had another visit to the dentist earlier. The next appointment in 2 weeks looks like it could be the one for taking the mould for my retainer for my lower teeth So so happy!!!!
He said there has been some movement on the top teeth but I can't see it yet myself.
