How much do the finishing clear aligners usually cost?

Does every Inman Aligner have Lingual and labial coil components?

Jmag-I am not there yet but have read that the clears were included in the price. This may depend on the dentist because mine hasn't mentioned clears, only fixed.
I believe they all have lingual and labial coils, If you go to their website you can see the different appliances.

I've had mine for 7 weeks now. I can see the end in sight. I was expecting 12-16 weeks but it should be sooner. The past few days my front tooth has been a little sensitive when taking the IA out. Seems that it is moving now. The tooth that was further back moved faster. Even though they aren't perfect yet, I already have more confidence when smiling. For years I have hated my smile. It's nice to smile and not worry about how my teeth look!

I was meant to get my IA fitted today. I've spent 42 years living with 'Tracy's Law', i.e. if it can go wrong it WILL go wrong. Last night at 5:35pm I find a miss call on my BB from the dentists. I should have known this wasn't going to be straightforward. Called them this morning to be told that their compressor had broken down and they have had to cancel ALL appointments for the next three days. The soonest they can fit me in now is next Tuesday. :( I'm so disappointed, but should have known something like this would happen.

Will update when (if) I ever get it fitted. :o)

Jmag - not everyone needs clear aligners, they're usually used for any final adjustments that are needed such a stubborn tooth that won't move etc.
if you do need clear aligners, they are included in the price, though you may want to just double check with your dentist.

Got a phonecall from the Dentists today. They were up and running again and had a cancellation at 4:40pm. :)

So today is day one. I've been wearing it now for approx. 2 hours. The mickey taking by my kids is relentless, but I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon.

TraceT glad you were able to get your IA. You will soon get used to wearing and your speech will improve.

Thanks Tennessee. My speech is still a great source of amusement for friends and family. 'Sausages' is the fave at the mo.

I can see how people have lost weight using it. My teeth are aching which is putting me off eating, and the hassle of taking it out for a snack, i.e. biscuit, is just not worth it!! :)

I'm back for a check up in two weeks and was told not to see any movement in that time. I think my dentist may be in for a shock!!!!

Hi, I have been thinking about getting the IA for the last 6 months. I have one crooked front tooth that is really affection my confidence and I really want to get this sorted.

Question 1:
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a dentist in the Glasgow area as I'm starting university there in September.

I have saved up £1,500 to pay for it.

Question 2:
Is there more costs after the initial price of the IA things like retainers and other hidden costs or will my £1,500 get me my teeth fixed?

Hi guys,

I fell upon this forum only today. I have an appointment to have my Inman alligner fitted this Friday. My feelings are totally mixed right now, the fear of the unknown mixed with the feeling of 'finally, I'm doing something about it rather than just worrying that my teeth are getting worse.'

My current question is, my dentist has said that I shall have the fixed wire at the end of the treatment. I asked about the retainer and he kind of shrugged and said it was an option. I got the impression that he feels the wire is better. What do you guys think? I'm totally undecided. My thoughts are that, the retainer is a big commitment. On the other hand, how annoying is the wire and what about cleaning?

If this all works out, then I intend to have my top teeth done after. Can anyone tell me if they find the top of bottom alligner more or less comfortable?

Gosh I'm as nervous as a kitten now!

Thank you for reading this.

Pritt :-)

Prittstick,

My bottom aligner is way more comfortable and doesn't affect my speech at all. The top one has an expander but not everyone has that and I think that's why it's much worse. My top teeth were much worse than my bottom though and that could have made the top more difficult.

I can't help with the retainer question. I should be getting my bottom retainer this week (clear plastic) but I'm a long way off from getting the top one.

Can't quite believe what I have done today. After years of prevaricating, and wearing various retainers/ night braces as a palliative measure, I've gone into the dentist for a simple check-up, made a simple enquiry about the IA, and half an hour later was sitting with the molds in my mouth, and signing over the cash. In exactly 2 weeks time I too will be a proud member of the IA club. Haven't told anyone else, and just can't quite believe what I have let myself in for!

Finally had an adjustment done last week. First few days, noticed slight movement, he put stronger springs in the device. After 2 days again, no movement. Some providers want you in every week, others every month. If possible, find a provider who is willing to see you often. It can make a difference. I feel like I'm just wearing it for nothing after the 2 or 3 initial days of movement after an adjustment. Same thing happened right when I got it, a few days of noticeable movement, then nothing. It's been 6 weeks now and this has worked slower than I expected. I wear it about 20 hours a day and still going slow.

It is an annoying device and even at 6 weeks I still have to remove it for important phone calls. I look at case pictures and I see people with significantly more complex cases than mine and their teeth at 4 weeks look great. This is taking too long for what should be a relatively simple case. I'm not going to wear this thing over a year considering I have to remove it for anything important, I'm getting to the point I want some sort of partial refund or a new provider.

Hi Style1983

I feel the same as you, I've had my IA 8 weeks today and I only saw any noticable movement after my first check up which was at 4 weeks. Nothing much before or since. I've got my second check up tomorrow and I'm going to tell him exactly what I think. I will also say that I want more frequent appointments.

Let you know how I get on.

I've had mine in a week tomorrow. I've only been taking it out to eat, but have realised that I just can't wear it for some phone calls at work. As I'm finding it easier to put it in, I don't mind taking it out for long winded phone calls. Colleagues have said that I sound drunk, which is amusing seeing as I don't drink!!! A few people can't understand why I've bothered as they don't think my teeth are that bad. One darling tutor thinks I'm mad and too old for it!!! (I work in a Uni).

Apart from my speech the only other thing that's driving me demented is the mess it's making of the inside of my mouth. The parts that are causing discomfort can't be covered by wax and I now have some very sore welts in my mouth. My poor tongue is also taking a battering.

I just keep telling myself 'no pain, no gain'.

I can see some change in one of my teeth already. I'm back at the dentists on the 18th, and am hoping to make him eat his words when he said he doubted there'd be any change in the first two weeks. :)

Good luck to everyone who is embarking on their IA adventure.

I was pleased at my check up today because my dentist did some filing and said I need to come every 2 weeks instead of every 4 because 3 of my teeth are almost in their final position but one of my teeth won't budge!
