Wire Issue

#1 Post by Kirsten2011 »

So i was brave yesterday and ordered, and finished a footlong sandwich from Subway! Roast Beef with honey mustard sauce and ALL the decorations because i though go huge or go home. Happy to celebrate with you all that i was able to munch away at it, slowly, but successfully!!!! yay!! :)
Now for the consequence.... clearly one of those cucumbers go the better of my wires, as the wire on the lower set has come out of the bracket right at the back on my mouth!!! So now its stabbing me in my left cheek, together with the little rubber roll that they put over the wire, which is now shoves so far back i cant even retrieve it!!! So scared to fiddle with it too much in case i actually end of bending the wire completely.... next appt is 1 August and time could not go any faster!!
Sure, i could phone the Dr and go in for a quick fix.....but time does not allow.
Apart from this, the last 5 weeks have been fantastic, as i have had little pain and discomfort, and have enjoyed the red and pink colours so much, may just keep to it again!!
Have a great day everyone!! xxxx

Hey Kristen--

I had the same thing happen on my 2nd day in braces, and then again a few weeks ago. It's OK to try to get in back in the buccal tube--the wire goes right back to being straight--it doesn't bend because you've been bending it to get it back in.

I was also told if it came out to feel free to try and get it back in, probably with some help of some tweezers and another set of hands. He did say the heavier the wire the harder time I would have putting it back in myself.

You're definitely braver than I am, even if I could tackle a sub sandwich I wouldn't for fear of the repercussions.
