I've just been to my appointment and I'm super happy to find out that everything is on track! Normally at my appointments they don't let me in on anything and just 'ummmm' and 'ahhhh'. They said today they're really happy with how things are going and some things have even sorted themselves out in my mouth! I've had my braces on since March and haven't seen my orthodontist yet but I will get to see him at my next appointment and hopefully get the bottoms ones put on in september!! I should hopefully be on track for my jaw surgery in January ish.
An added bonus was I had a chip in my front tooth from about 7 years ago which I hated and they've filed it down today. finally some positivity from this whole experience!
Yay well done you.... its nice when it turns into something positive isnt it. A couple of adjustments ago my Ortho filed down the serated bits on my teeth that havent worn naturally due to my lack of bite and the difference was amazing....... Bring it on!
No not everyone will have it. Its purely aesthetic. When your teeth come through as a 7 year old they have a serated edge, because my teeth have never touched and aren't used to bite off food my serated edges have never worn so the ortho filed them down so they are now straight. Sometimes they do it on the edges of teeth to make them fit together better - it doesn't hurt and is nothing to worry about.
Thanks for your reply! I know its so great when you get a positive experience. it really makes it seem all worthwhile. How long have you got to have your braces on? Do you need surgery aswell?
I have had my braces on since last October and yes i am due to have surgery, upper and lower.
H said roughly 18months but the problem for me is that there are no surgeons to go to. The surgeon i was under left and as yet he hasnt been replaced(NHS), back log is huge i think about 75 surgeries! so even if they employ someone tomorrow its going to take time to clear the list. I feel sorry for the people that have been surgery ready since last summer but still waiting......
that's terrible! I'm also getting it through the NHS but as far as I'm aware there isn't any waiting list where I live, or they haven't mentioned one. They said they're hoping to do my surgery in january but I'm not sure when they will book me in for it!
Glad to hear everything is going well. I can't wait to have my teeth filed to perfection. That's one of those "extras" that makes a huge visual impact.
thanks! Yeah me too. I was so happy when they got that chip out. There are other areas I want perfecting but I'm not sure they will do it free on the NHS. I'm going to go private after anyway to get whitened etc so i'll get it all done there if needs be
