So Excited!

#1 Post by ashesgap »

I had my 10th adjustment today and got great news. We've been working to open a space on my upper left side for the canine implant I need. Its been 5 months now and the space is almost big enough. My ortho was telling me that once the spring is off he'll put a bracket back on my 1st premolar and fix it, since its turned quite a bit without a bracket. When the bracket goes on, i'll get elastics for my midline, and whatever else he wants to fix....then he said it "I think once we get this bracket on it'll be....6 months till your done" I tried not to jump up and down in the chair. The best part is he has me coming back in 3 weeks to check the space, cause it's almost wide enough. Which means....from next month I might have just 6 months left! WooHoo!
Its weird that we all get excited about such large spans of time, but to me 6 months is nothing. I'm hoping that all the people that started at the same time as me start getting exciting 6 month time frames as well.

So, I got up the nerve today to ask my ortho how much longer. He says "open, close, open." then he checks my canine spaces and says "I think if not the next time, then the time after that" and I was like "what?" then I asked if he was serious. Lol. And so I have less then three months left. Which is crazy. I'm very excited though.
I wouldn't have cared if he had said 8 months, or something crazy like that. But, this means my husband can request PCS orders now instead of later. Which makes it all even better.
Now I understand what everyone says about obsessing when you get close to debanding. I'm convinced my lips are crooked, which makes my husband laugh.
Right after the ortho told me I texted my hubby "omg! Two months!" and he wrote back, "finally!" like he's been in all this pain the last 16 months.

Well, little change of plans. Since I need canine implants we did an x-ray to check that my roots were out of the way. They aren't. So, since the tooth is in the perfect spot, moving the roots is going to move them out of perfection. This means, not only will I get implants for new canines, I will have to get bonding to fix what's going to be made crooked. It's not too upsetting, because this means we'll completely re-shape these canines to look exactly like the laterals that they are replacing. I'm having some anxiety about getting the work done quickly, so nothing moves. As it is I can't get implants yet, since we might be getting PCS orders, and I don't want to move during the implant process. Trying not to throw myself to the floor and wiggle around like a two year old.
