OH MY GOD!!! HUGE GAPS!

#1 Post by sibilla »

Yikes.... 5 weeks in and I've developed huge gaps and protuding teeth are getting worse! I guess, in my naivety, I expected teeth just to shift where they were supposed to and teeth that already stick out would just move back. Honestly didn't expect this.... they look worse than when the brace went on...I go for my first adjustment in 4 weeks and am desperately hoping it'll look better after that!

Don't worry, they will close the gaps. Before my first adjustment, I also had huge gaps (made flossing easier). During my first adjustment, the added powerchains and the gaps are gone.

I feel for you. It is true that things get worse before they get better. I had a really crooked bottom front tooth. The ortho used a spring to make room to turn the tooth. Well, he had to make a big gap to turn the tooth and while the gap was forning, the tooth turned more for the worse. I was embarassed to let anyone see my teeth during that time. My teeth now look great and I am on the home stretch. Just hang in there, this stage won't last long.
