Hi

I have one front tooth longer than the other and my dentist is going to use a 'filling' on the bottom of the shorter tooth to make it the same length as the longer one. I assume that the filling will be composite.

I would be interested to know though, from anyone who already has this, how secure it is? I have visions of biting into something and the composite breaking away.

Hi!

I have composite on my shorter tooth. I've only had it for about two weeks so I can't really say how secure it is. I eat as normal but I try not to bite into anything hard with that tooth. It's going ok so far but I'm still very aware of the composite and therefore very careful with it. According to what I've read on the Internet the composite should last for a couple of years before you have to re-do it (if you take care of your teeth). One problem might be that the composite stains pretty easily.

Well well... If I have do re-do the compsites twice a year that's fine with me. I took maybe 15 minutes to bulid up the tooth so it's not a big deal :)

My advice is to look up "dental bonding" on google and also on youtube if you want to learn more about this :)

Hi I am thinking of having inman aligner and wondered if anyone has had experience of dental elegance in sidcup? Also is there anything that can go really wrong? Are you all happy with the results? Was it worth it? Just really worried to take the plunge. Also how often do you have to wear retainer and is it uncomfortable to sleep in? Would love some advice!

Hello,

I am a patient of Dental Elegance and so far I am very happy with the treatment there. Today was my first appointment after 2 weeks with the IA and my doctor said things are going well. I could feel my teeth moving since 5th day of the treatment and so far I am impressed.

I can't really think of anything that could go wrong apart that your teeth are very stubborn and don't move quick enough but you won't know until you try and I don't think that will depend on where you are being treated.

About the retainers, I'm not 100% sure but I think you would need to wear them 2 nights a week at the least. I personally will have some thin metal wires stuck to the back of my front teeth so I won't need to wear retainers after the treatment, but this is optional and entirely up to you. I guess that, as well as with the aligner, it will take a while to get used to sleep with retainers and after a while you'll forget about them..

It's early stages for me to talk about results, but I am very happy with this clinic so far and would recommend to anyone.

Hope this is helpful!

Yes really helpful thanks. I have just booked first appointment for Monday. Are you feeling very uncomfortable or are you getting used to it. Thanks for responding!

Hi,

This is my 3rd week and I'm used to it by now.. still I'd say it's good to be prepared mentally for the fact that it takes quite a lot of space in your mouth. My speech has improved a bit but I can't see how I won't have a lisp as my tongue finds it hard to pronounce "s" and "ch" sounds.. :)

Just think of the results and that it's not for a long time, like fixed braces are...

Let us know how you get on with your first appointment..
Good luck!

So much for only wearing my IA at night until I get my clear one on 16th. Popped it in last night before bed and realised that my now relatively straight tooth wasn't so straight anymore. I've had to wear my IA again all day today and won't be removing it until 6:30am tomorrow. I've decided to wear it from 6:30pm to 6:30am and hope that is enough to keep my teeth exactly where they should be. I have this awful feeling my clear aligner won't fit properly on 16th because something has moved too much!!! :(

One of my teeth moved back before the retainer arrived so I went straight back to the dentist for another composite and still wore my inman 20 hours per day until I got the retainer. Now I have an upper inman and a lower retainer so I'm wearing the retainer when I have the inman in anyway even though I was told to wear it for about 12-15 hours. I'll probably wear the upper retainer full time for the first few weeks after I get it. it's not noticeable at all and doesn't affect my speech.

Hi all,

Really pleased I have had my IA for just over 14 weeks and today I finished! I am so proud of the results and can't stop smiling. I had a lot of filing to help uncross my front two teeth over the weeks but it has truly been worth it. Today I had my front teeth filed again to make them the same length. I have decided to have my teeth whitened then I have to the newly created gap in my front teeth filled then a 'wire' retainer fitted behind. So just two more weeks to wait till I'm done. I just have top wear my IA at night until my permenent retainer is fitter.

Photos will follow once I'm complete.

Good luck all - my only regret is that I didn't do it all sooner
Hi

Try this link if I remember rightly you can click on the word city and it will put them in alphabetical order for you.
Thanks TraceT! Evidently there are plenty in London, so it's just a case of finding one with a good reputation. Still open to recs if anyone has had their IA done in London? Otherwise I'll start calling some up and trying to arrange a couple of consultations.

kittenheels, congrats on nearly being done! Can't wait to see some pictures.

Hello again!

I have a question for those of you that have the clear retainers.
How visible are they when you wear them?

hi. this may seem like a stupid question, but sure lol.

my "canine teeth" are quite pointy and thin and i was wondering if te inman would make them less pointy and better shaped and more slender/wide , if that makes sense.

Hardly noticeable at all. I have to take mine out to show people I'm wearing it.

Mine are still very pointy and I'm almost finished treatment. The dentist said he would file down the pointy bits so they're not as bad when I'm finished with the inman.

Hi guys!!

I've just spent a good 2 hours reading through loads of these posts! Some really useful advise-thanks :-) I am now, more than ever, determined to pay up and go for the IA! Like many others here I had a brace for over a year when I was younger but did not have a retainer so my overbite gradually came back and I've been living with it way too long!! I'm now 28 and I think its time (way overdue actually) to get it sorted. I live in London and would greatly appreciate if someone could recommend a particular cosmetic dentist here??? I have done loads of research but of course they all claim to be specialists so i have no idea who to chose!

I am waiting for my IA to be made at DE. So far been really pleased with them.

The main thing i'm worried about is my speech. Do you ever get used to speaking with it in?

Also, how visually noticable is it when it is in?
