anyone else's ears pop?
Okay so I'm getting through my first week of braces. Still having major regrets, but o well. I've had a horrible headache for the past week, actually had to take a few days off work, and my ears keep popping. Similar to when you change altitude in an airplane. It's really often every half hour or so and I get a series of pops. So weird and annoying. anyone else?
Re: anyone else's ears pop?
No, no ear popping here...very strange! Too bad about the headaches...I haven't had any of those either. (I'm about two months in.) Hopefully your regrets will subside when you begin to see some movement...it's very exciting! Hang in there!

Throughout my entire time in braces, my ortho has been adament that if I have any kind of unusual pain, to let him know asap. A week long headache and popping of the ears does not sound normal to me. I would give your ortho a call on Monday and let them know what you are experiencing.
Good luck!

When I get ear popping and a week-long headache I usually have a sinus infection or allergy congestion. Try Sudafed for a few days. If it helps, then you know this is completely unrelated to braces. If not, a call to the ortho is in order.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm definatly going to give a call monday. My neurologist warned me about the headaches. I get frequent migraines, and he said a few of his patients with migraines have them flair up from braces and he actually advised me against it. Said one patient got so bad they had the braces removed. Really hoping that is not the case cuz of the extractions. Still have the darn headache and spending the weekend in bed with the shades drawn. ugh. Nasal passages are all clear but good suggestion. The ear popping thing is weird though. Probably related to the jaw.

I had migraines for many years. Once I got my braces, I would say within a month, all migraines stopped! The only headaches I get now are braces related...usually adjustments or elastics. I hope you have the same luck as me!
Good Luck!

That was exactly what I thought. Did you have extractions done? Hopefully it is not related to that. Good luck!alana wrote:The ear popping thing is weird though. Probably related to the jaw.
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

When I got my bite plate I spent two full weeks with a completely plugged ear- only 1, not both. It was annoying- like when you have a really bad headcold. And I do mean completely plugged, couldn't hear a thing. It finally passed- what a relief. Also, at the same time, my TMJ was getting much better- so I think it was related, jaw joint so near to the ears and all. I could be wrong, but seemed logical to me
Hope that helps.
