Smoothing Of Tooth Edges

#1 Post by Vulcan »

I'm 17 months in and was wondering everyone's experience on having some of the tooth edges filed. A few of my front teeth have some jagged edges at the bottom of them, I'm wondering if any one similar had their tooth edges smoothed when their braces came off or right before? I just don't see the point in going through all this, getting them nice and pretty and leaving jagged edges.

Before we knew my canines would have to be re-shaped as laterals they were going to just be smoothed a little. My ortho said not to get it done right away, wait a couple months for your teeth to settle. Then you'll see what all you want fixed, and what looks fine.

I had some very minor smoothing of a few tooth edges when I got debraced in June. But as noted in the other post, it's best to wait a few months for your teeth to settle before doing any significant leveling. Your ortho or regular dentist can do it a few months after getting debraced.

My ortho has told me that he will be filing my teeth when the braces come off and that will even them all up. Yay!

Mine discussed it with me before but suggested a bit of bonding rather than filing so I doubt he will now :?
